Lore
“"'Tis better to bend with the wind than stand tall and be broken. Therein lies hope. Therein lies freedom."
Orphaned as a child, Yotsuyu was taken in by her aunt and uncle. However, her adoptive parents little welcomed her then, and they welcomed her even less after the birth of their son, Asahi. Permitted no indulgence, she learned to have no fancies, but she would retain her sweet tooth from better days gone by. When Doma became an imperial province, the young Hyur briefly attended school, but soon she was instead put to work, performing backbreaking labor with naught but insults as her reward. This life of servitude continued until her brother was accepted into the Magitek Academy, whereupon she was married off to the master of another clan—a man more than twice her age who beat her as he pleased. For good and for ill, he passed away within a few years, and she was sold off to be a courtesan to pay her husband’s debts. It was then that she assumed the mantle of an imperial spy and took her life into her own hands. While history will not remember her kindly, it cannot be denied that she fought to the very end of her thirty-two years—that she might be free.
