The guildmaster of the gleaners' guildship is something of a legend among their ranks: it is rumored that Vtorak is so resourceful that he—or possibly she—can procure goods that are not of this star. Ever on the road in pursuit of requested goods, this elusive figure of indeterminate age and inconclusive gender has apparently not been seen for several decades, and the younger members are in doubt as to whether such a person even exists. Interestingly, when gleaners argue over who was first to procure a particular item, the debate is referred to as a "VV" matter. In cases where no conclusion is forthcoming, the unspoken rule is to register the item under the guildmaster's name, and thus the Bibliotheca Historica and the Archeion's catalogs are replete with acknowledgments of one Vtorak Vetasch.
