The maternal side of Tesleen's family was forced from its ancestral home in Nabaath Areng by the Flood, and she inherited much of what her forebears learned during this arduous period, including basic combat skills. These would be vital when she found herself fleeing her village at the young age of eleven, her mother having been injured in a sin eater attack and subsequently sentenced to death. The pair made their way to the Inn at Journey's Head, where young Tesleen would remain for the next seven years, caring for those afflicted by Light long after her mother had passed.

During a sin eater attack, Tesleen was transformed into a sin eater itself. The Warrior of Darkness and their allies were forced to put her down when she later reappeared in 
Holminster Switch.
