Will-o'-the-wisps have been spotted by both travelers on land and sailors at sea. Thinking the drifting sphere of flame to be a guiding light, the lost blindly follow those corpselights into the realm of the dead... or so the feaful tales claim. Theories concerning the origins of the wisps around: are they the burning souls of soldiers slain in battle? Or clouds of foul gas that ignited upon escaping from a bloated corpse? None can say for sure.
