Well, I suppose you'd better show this Yellowjacket that gettin' smacked about by a mad kraken wasn't a waste of time after all! Just take aim at Latool Ja and fire off a Water Cannon.

Lore

"Becomin' a blue mage ain't easy—and I know that better than most—but stick with it, and one day you'll be just like me! Actually, you should probably ignore that last part..."

As a researcher of the Arcanists' Guild, Martyn embarked on an expedition to the New World, where he studied the traditional magicks of the Whalaqee. Upon returning home to present his findings to the guild, however, he was met with derision from his compeers, who claimed the art to be a collection of impractical parlor tricks. Worse yet, he soon discovered that the Whalaqee were suffering from an epidemic—one undoubtedly brought over by Eorzeans like himself. Sensing his own responsibility for their affliction, Martyn dropped everything and dedicated his life to finding a cure for the disease by whatever means necessary. Thus did he seek to codify the Whalaqee's blue magic, sell dubious wares for dubious profit, and finally become the marvel of the Masked Carnivale—the Great Azuro.
