Who could fail to be awed by the spittle flying from beneath your kabuto? ...Your boots as thundering hooves sending up plumes of dust, your taut flanks gleaming with sweat...well! A worthy mount you would make, m'lord. I am not the only horse-lover in the Silver Bazaar tonight, I'll wager. I saw many a pair of eyes shining at the sight of flying manes, lips parted as though to drink in the muscular gallop... And did you yourself not feel a dim echo of the exhilaration that is the natural gift of riders and mount alike? So long have we of the East partaken of this that we feel the need...the need for speed. It is our custom to reward a horse with a carrot. Take this, my fleet piebald steed, and present it to the black uma yoriki in Ul'dah. You will continue to don the kabuto, I hope. With so many eager eyes upon you, it would be a sore disappointment to see the horse revealed as mere man.

Black Uma Doshin: Good morrow to you, my lady/lord. I am the uma doshin, a member of a Far Eastern delegation come to share our traditions of Heavensturn with the good people of Eorzea. If there is aught you would know of this year's celebration, you need only ask."
What do you do here?
Black Uma Doshin: At the turning of the year, a small delegation of our people will journey to Eorzea to celebrate the coming of Heavensturn, and in so doing, strengthen the bonds of friendship between Eorzea and the Far East.
Black Uma Doshin: Under the direction of our leader, the uma bugyo, we have prepared a special attraction for this year's event. If you are interested, we invite you to make your way to Limsa Lominsa, where it will be held.
Black Uma Doshin: (Alternate dialogue) Under the direction of our leader, the uma bugyo, we are planning a procession featuring this year's totem animal, the noble horse. We do hope you enjoy it!
What is Heavensturn?
Black Uma Doshin: You are unfamiliar with this festival? The tradition has a rich history which dates back centuries, but I do not wish to bore you, so I shall try and keep my summation brief.
Black Uma Doshin: Heavensturn is a celebration that marks the start of a new year, though the way in which it is observed differs from region to region. Here in Eorzea, it is said that the Twelve select one among them to keep vigil over the realm until the next passing of the twelve moons.
- (2026) I believe this year it is Nophica, the goddess of abundance, who has been charged with this duty.
Black Uma Doshin: In the Far East, however, the changing of the year is heralded by one of twelve totem animals. As you have no doubt discerned from my helm, this year we pay homage to the noble uma.
Black Uma Doshin: Ah, forgive me. That name is likely unfamiliar to your ears. I believe you Eorzeans call this most majestic of beasts a horse. How such a peculiar name was conceived I will never know.
