After you start a Levequest, the locations of the targets are displayed on your map. Target monsters will have silver card icons above their heads.

Retainer Ventures allow the players to assign task to their [[retainer]]s. These tasks consist of collection of [[items]]. The retainer will complete his or her task after a certain amount of time. Retainers are assigned [[#Class|classes]] and are able to equip [[#Gear|gear]] and level up. Retainer Ventures was introduced in patch 2.2.

*You can still use the Message Board and Summoning Bell while your Retainer is out venturing. However, their equipment and class cannot be changed during a Venture.

To unlock Retainer Ventures, you must complete the quest [[The Scions of the Seventh Dawn]] and have hired at least 1 [[Retainer]]. players then must complete 1 of 3 level 17 quests in the 3 major cities.

In [[Limsa Lominsa]], players can complete the quest [[An Ill-conceived Venture (Limsa Lominsa)]] by talking to [[Troubled Adventurer]] in [[Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks]] (X9,Y11).

*Quick Exploration is a short (one hour), expensive (Venture-wise) and random task that your retainer can perform. The item your retainer brings back can be anything. Most of the time they will not bring back any notable items. The experience your retainer gains correlates to the rarity of the item he or she brings back.

Aside from 1.0 items and [[dungeon]] and [[trial]] [[gear]], players can obtain 8 untradable dyes: [[Pure White Dye]], [[Jet Black Dye]], [[Metallic Silver Dye]], [[Metallic Gold Dye]], [[Pastel Pink Dye]], [[Pastel Green Dye]], [[Pastel Blue Dye]], [[Pastel Purple Dye]]. ==Assigning a Venture==
Players can assign a venture to their retainers by selecting Assign Venture from the retainer interface. Assigning a venture requires payment with a unique currency named [[ventures]]. Ventures can be acquired by purchasing them from [[Grand Company]] vendors with [[Company Seals]], completing [[Levequests]] and completing [[Beast Tribe Quests]].

*The status of ventures can be confirmed under Timers in the Duty menu. Selecting Ventures from the Timers interface will display a separate window containing the status of individual retainers.

==Venture Completion==
All ventures are completed within a fixed period of time (the normal gathering ventures can be shorter than usual if a high level retainer is sent to gather low level materials). When completed, your retainer's venture report will be updated in the retainer interface, allowing you to collect the spoils of their venture.
The remaining time for ventures can also be viewed in the Timers tab.

Retainers will receive experience points upon completion of ventures, increasing their level to a maximum of 60. The number of available ventures will increase as your retainer advances in level, a new tier of each type being unlocked every 5 levels.

Retainer Ventures allow the players to assign task to their [[retainer]]s. These tasks consist of collection of [[items]]. The retainer will complete his or her task after a certain amount of time. Retainers are assigned [[#Class|classes]] and are able to equip [[#Gear|gear]] and level up. Retainer Ventures was introduced in patch 2.2.

*Every [[#Assigning a Venture|venture assignment]] costs the player a special currency named [[ventures]]. These can be earned from [[Beast Tribe]] dailies, battle leves or bought from the Grand Company quartermasters.

==Unlock==
To unlock Retainer Ventures, you must complete the quest [[The Scions of the Seventh Dawn]] and have hired at least 1 [[Retainer]]. players then must complete 1 of 3 level 17 quests in the 3 major cities.

In [[Limsa Lominsa]], players can complete the quest [[An Ill-conceived Venture (Limsa Lominsa)]] by talking to [[Troubled Adventurer]] in [[Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks]] (X9,Y11).

In [[Gridania]], players can complete the quest [[An Ill-conceived Venture (Gridania)]] by talking to [[Troubled Adventurer]] in [[New Gridania]] (X11,Y12).

In [[Ul'dah]], players can complete the quest [[An Ill-conceived Venture (Ul'dah)]] by talking to [[Troubled Adventurer]] in [[Ul'dah - Steps of Nald]] (X9,Y8).

==Preparing Your Retainer==

Before your retainers can undertake ventures, you must first assign them a [[classes|class]] and equip them with a weapon. ==Assigning a Venture==
Players can assign a venture to their retainers by selecting Assign Venture from the retainer interface. Assigning a venture requires payment with a unique currency named [[ventures]]. Ventures can be acquired by purchasing them from [[Grand Company]] vendors with [[Company Seals]], completing [[Levequests]] and completing [[Beast Tribe Quests]].

*The status of ventures can be confirmed under Timers in the Duty menu. Selecting Ventures from the Timers interface will display a separate window containing the status of individual retainers.

==Venture Completion==
All ventures are completed within a fixed period of time (the normal gathering ventures can be shorter than usual if a high level retainer is sent to gather low level materials). When completed, your retainer's venture report will be updated in the retainer interface, allowing you to collect the spoils of their venture.
The remaining time for ventures can also be viewed in the Timers tab.

Retainers will receive experience points upon completion of ventures, increasing their level to a maximum of 50. The number of available ventures will increase as your retainer advances in level, a new tier of each type being unlocked every 5 levels.

Treasure Hunt is an activity released in [[Patch Notes|patch]] 2.1. While [[gathering]] resources as [[Miner]], [[Fisher]] or [[Botanist]] at level 40 or above gathering points, players have a chance of receiving [[#Maps|Timeworn Maps]]. Players can [[decipher]] these maps to receive a location where treasure can be found. After arriving at the correct location, players will have to defeat one or several monsters guarding the treasure before it can be opened. The maps come in 8 grades. *Make your way north of Aleport, and speak with the Yellowjacket stationed outside the entrance to Sastasha.

*After receiving reports describing the unsavory-looking men seen entering Sastasha, the Yellowjackets have been on the lookout for the Sahagin and the pirate allies, the Serpent Reavers. Enter the cave and discover if the Yellowjackets' concerns are well grounded.

*Alestan listens intently as you recount all that unfolded within Spirithold. Understandably concerned, the Wood Wailer promises to investigate the masked mage, and bids you return to Gridania and speak with Miounne.

*Safely back in Gridania, you relate your tale to Miounne, only for her to forbid you from repeating the story to others. What strange forces could be at work in the Twelveswood? Such matters are best left to the Hearers, it would seem. Temple Leves are a new form of [[Guildleve]] available in [[Ishgard]] and other 3.0 areas. Similar to normal Leves, players can select from [[Battlecraft Leves]], [[Fieldcraft Leves]] and [[Tradecraft Leves]]. Unlike normal Leves, players can undertake large-scale levequests which require ten leve allowances. These levequests are more difficult but offer greater [[experience]] and item rewards.

Retainers can store [[items]] and [[gil]] for you and sell items on the Market. In 2.2 players can use their retainers for [[Retainer Ventures]]. Players can assign their retainers [[classes]] and give them gear. Then players can send them out for expeditions for items and experience. Retainers with a class can level up by performing Retainer Ventures, but their maximal level depends on the players level in the same class.

==Unlocking and hiring Retainers==
Retainers are unlocked after completing the Main Story Quest [[The Scions of the Seventh Dawn]].
Players can hire Retainers by talking to a Retainer Vocate near the [[Marketboard]] of the 3 main cities. By default, you can only hire two Retainers, but you can add up to 6 additional retainers(for a total of 8) from the Mog Station on the [http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/ Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone].

==Using Retainers==
To interact with your retainer, use the [[Summoning Bell]] found in Inn rooms, the markets of the 3 main cities, residental areas and other locations such as Revenants Toll. Pick the retainer in question from the menu if you have more than one. You'll then be given a menu of options:

*Entrust or withdraw items from your retainer: Opens the retainer inventory alongside yours to manage items. Retainers have 7 tabs of 25 slots each for a total of 175 items. You cannot give them equipment to equip with this option.

*Entrust or withdraw gil from your retainer: Opens up an exchange menu for gil. There is not much of a reason to store your gil with a retainer, but any gil earned from selling items on the market by the retainer will be deposited here

*Sell items from your inventory on the market: Opens up your inventory to select items you want the retainer to sell. Each retainer has 20 slots for selling items.

*Sell items from your retainer's inventory on the market: Opens up the retainer inventory to select items you want the retainer to sell. Each retainer has 20 slots for selling items.

*View sale history: Acesses a list of recent sales made by the retainer.

*Assign class: Only available if the retainer has no current class. The four options below will appear instead if the retainer does. A level 1 primary weapon or tool of the class must be in the players armory or inventory to assign the class.

*Assign Venture: Assign the retainer a venture if they aren't on one or have a report waiting. {{See also|Retainer Ventures}}

*View Report: Only available after the retainer has finished their venture. Shows the result of the venture, transfers the item rewards to your inventory and grants the retainer the experience earned. After the result window is closed, they can be assigned a new venture.

*View Retainer attributes and gear: Displays a screen similar to the character screen for the player with the attributes and equipped gear. This screen is also used to equip and unequip gear on the retainer, but this cannot be done while the retainer is on a venture.

*Reset trainer class (retainer class level): removes the class from the retainer so a new one can be assigned. Experience gained in the old class is lost permanently. Cannot be done while the retainer is on a venture.

*Quit: Ends the interaction with your retainer.

You can access your retainers at any time, even in the middle of a venture. However, they will stop selling on the market until the interaction is complete.
