Unanimated: Added links to Direct Hit Rate and Critical Hit pages from the main wiki text.

Affects the amount of damage dealt by both physical and magic attacks, as well as the amount of HP restored by healing spells.

Because Determination has a lesser impact on the damage of a specific attack than either Direct Hit Rate or Critical Hit, it is generally considered the weakest of the three DPS substats in terms of burst output.<br>
Determination is somewhat more consistent, though, as its effect is always active, and it is slightly more flexible than Direct Hit Rate as Determination also improves healing.

While the in-game tooltip specifies that determination only affect healing spells (i.e. global cooldown actions), it also boosts the healing from abilities (i.e., off-global cooldown actions).<noinclude>
Is this still true? I ran this raid today and my armor had its item level synced. I had an ARR relic weapon equipped so was unable to verify whether the sync would occur on that too.

:There's a character level sync down to 50, but there's not an item level sync. Part of being synced down to level 50 involves squishing your ilvl down as well, so it's different than just syncing the item level. If I remember correctly, it puts you down to the maximum ilvl for level 50 content (somewhere around i130 if memory serves), so...yea. You are sync'd, but it's a different squish than capping your ilvl. It's essentially the same thing in the end, but that coupled with skill and ability changes makes this content fairly trivial (and has for the better part of the last decade.) - Throwaway1234 (talk) 11:20, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
This fight, you need to pay attention to what element Fatebreaker is channeling, as it will affect the behavior of the spell. There is no spell name difference for the elements, so you need to use the visuals of the bosses auras to know how to prepare for the attacks!

The colors of the aura indicate:
*Red aura: Fire Imbued
*Blue aura: Lightning Imbued

Abilities

:Burnt Strike A line AOE telegraph down the middle of the battlefield will appear
:- Fire Imbued: After the explosion, you will get pushed away from the AOE zone...so make sure you're nice and close to avoid getting blown off the map!
:- Lightning Imbued: IMMEDIATELY after the explosion, another even wider explosion will occur. To avoid this, make sure you're standing close to the edge of the map, as there isn't enough time to move after the initial explosion
:- Light Imbued (Sub 50% Boss HP Only): After the explosion, everyone in the raid will have a targeted AOE telegraph directly under them, simply move out of the way.

:Bound of Faith This will target only one player in the raid and stun them
:- Fire Imbued: The player will have a stacking telegraph placed on them, so the raid will need to stack there to share the damage
:- Lightning Imbued: The player will be hit with a very heavy DoT effect. Healers need to babysit this person for the duration, as it will quickly kill if left unchecked

:Burnished Glory Unavoidable raid-wide AOE, just make sure you're ready to heal everyone up after it casts.
:Powder Mark Tankbuster that comes in two phases. The first initial hit will just be a standard heavy damage, single target attack. It will then give the tank a debuff that will tick down for 12 seconds. Towards the end of this timer, the tank will be targeted with a very wide AOE marker. Make sure you're not near the rest of the raid once this part happens to avoid excess damage!
:Turn of the Heavens The boss will summon nine circles of either fire or lightning that will heavily damage you if you stand in them, and eventually explode.
:- Fire Imbued: The red circles will have a much wider blast radius. Make sure you're standing either right inbetween two blue circles or on the outer edge of the battlefield on the blue circle side.
:- Lightning Imbued: The blue circles will have a much wider blast radius. Make sure you're standing either right inbetween two red circles or on the outer edge of the battlefield on the red circle side.

:Shifting Sky This is a sequence of attacks in a row.
:- 1st Part: A battlefield-wide knockback telegraph will appear. Stand in the middle of this to avoid getting thrown off the map.
:- 2nd Part: The snake pet will stand in the middle of the room and telegraph a cone AOE that will hit 3/4's of the room. Stand behind the snake to avoid (ample time to move here)
:- 3rd Part: Two clones of the boss will position themselves onto the edge of the battlefield, and one will cast Fire Imbued Burnt Strike and the other will cast Lightning Imbued Burnt Strike. You dodge these the same way as before, but you need to be ready for the Fire Imbued knockback!

:Prismatic Deception The boss will leave the battlefield with his two clones. Pay attention to your "Targets" in the UI, as you'll eventually see the clones added to the list. The three of them are hiding somewhere around the perimeter of the battlefield, but you can only see them if you run past them on the edge of the battlefield. Run around the edge of the battlefield until you are confident you know where either the left-most or right-most copy of the boss is standing. All three of them are going to shoot out a straight line, fairly wide AOE. Position yourself a few yalms to the outer edge of either the left-most or right-most clone to avoid the damage.
Dialogue
All lines are voice acted.

Fatebreaker: I'm the only one fit to protect her...
Ryne: To think that this could be born from my memories...
Ryne: That creature is passing on its aether!
Fatebreaker: Have at you!
Fatebreaker: You're not going anywhere! Fall!
Fatebreaker: A feeble shield protects nothing!
Fatebreaker: You're not going anywhere! Fall!
Fatebreaker: Light claim you!
Fatebreaker: Come, show me your strength!
Fatebreaker: Beast of my blood, answer my call!
Ryne: I sense a surge in aether...
Fatebreaker: Come! Show me your strength!
Fatebreaker: Let's try something else.
Ryne: The blade is imbued with Light!
Fatebreaker: Have at you!
Fatebreaker: You're not going anywhere! Fall!
Fatebreaker: The Light will cleanse your sins!
Ryne: The Light's so strong, I can't sense anything else...
<big>Phase 1: 100% - 65%</big>
-----
:Tifferet - Party-wide damage that must be healed through, as it can be used in rapid succession.

:Ein Sof - Four green circles will pop up, growing in size over time. Standing in these circles will gradually deal damage and inflict vulnerability up Vulnerability Up stacks. Go to the half of the arena where there are no circles and prepare for Fiendish Rage.

:Fiendish Rage - A healer and a DPS will be marked with stack markers. Sephirot will leap to them one at a time, dealing damage and inflicting a physical vulnerability up Physical Vulnerability Up debuff. While running to the safe half of the arena to deal with Ein Sof, the healers and off-tank should move to one side while the DPS move to the other. Because of the debuff, the main tank should stand between each group and avoid getting hit.

:Chesed - Hard-hitting tankbuster with no cast bar, only indicated by Sephirot slowly raising his arm. Tank should re-center the boss and face him away, as this attack is followed by a frontal cleave Triple Trial.

:Ain - Sephirot will use Ein Sof again to spawn one green circle, shortly followed by him facing a random party member and cleaving the arena moments later. The group should stand between Sephirot and the circle so that he directs Ain towards it, allowing the party to easily deal with Ratzon.

:Ratzon - One party member is targeted with a large purple circle AoE while six are targeted with smaller green circles. The party must run behind Sephirot and spread out. The purple circle can be placed either just behind Sephirot or at the edge of the arena.

<gallery mode=nolines>
Ain Markers Circles Example.png|Ain+Markers/Circles Example
</gallery>

<big>Phase 2: Adds</big>
-----
:Cochma - Large add that deals strong physical damage and applies magic vulnerability up 2 Magic Vulnerability Up stacks over time. The main tank should grab this and be healed regularly. Upon dying, the Cochma deals significant party-wide damage with Genesis. Two of these will appear during the phase.

:Binah - Smaller adds which the off tank should grab, as they deal magical damage. Upon dying, they each deal moderate party-wide damage with Genesis. Four sets of three Binah adds will appear during the phase.

<big>Phase 3</big>
-----
:Yesad - The ground will flash yellow, and a small circle AoE will be placed under each party member after a small delay, dealing damage and inflicting a damage down Damage Down debuff. Avoid this by moving away as the flash occurs. If the party isn't grouped up, be sure to avoid moving into someone else's AoE. This attack is used in conjunction with other attacks during this phase.

:Force Field - Four party members receive a green Force Against Magic debuff, which provides a severe physical weakness and a strong magical resistance. The other four receive an orange Force Against Might debuff, which does the inverse. These are used to resolve the following three attacks.

:Spirit/Life Force - Sephirot will damage half the arena with a green sphere and half with an orange sphere. Be sure to stand in the sphere that matches the color of your debuff to avoid fatal damage. When no debuffs are present, this will deal moderate damage to the party.

:Fiendish Wail - Two towers will appear, one on each side of the arena. At least one party member with an orange debuff must stand in each tower to prevent lethal damage and a vulnerability up Vulnerability Up stack from being inflicted on the party. At least one of the four party members should be on each side in preparation to prevent all four from standing in one tower. Four sets of towers will appear throughout the phase, with the latter two requiring a tank to take each as there will not be any debuffs present.

:Da'at - When debuffs are present, Sephirot will use Ein Sof to summon expanding circles and tether the four orange-debuff party members. These party members should move away while the green-debuff party members move towards Sephirot and grab a tether, preventing fatal damage from being dealt. When no debuffs are present, this deals heavy AoE damage to random party members, starting with a tankbuster on the main tank.

:Earth Shaker - A healer and a DPS will get a marker above their heads as well as a proximity tether. One should move far to the left and away from Sephirot while the other moves right. Another Yesad will occur simultaneously, forcing everyone to move.

:Pillar of Mercy - The party should stack inside the first blue circle at the northern edge of the arena until Yesad goes off, then move outside of the circle to be knocked away, without falling off the arena. Two expanding Ein Sof circles will also spawn in sequence, forcing the party to be knocked in a certain direction.

:Malkuth - Sephirot will lower his head and inflict a strong knockback. Group up near him or use knockback resistance.

:Pillar of Severity: Prior to this move, four Binahs and a Storm of Words add will spawn. Each tank should grab a pair of Binahs while the party quickly burns down the Storm of Words. Mechanics will continue during this time, so tanks should be prepared to take towers. Eventually, the party will stack on the remains of the Storm of Words to avoid getting knocked off stage by Sephirot.

The enrage will be indicated by an unavoidable Pillar of Severity.
Used For
Thavnairian Onion is a Chocobo Food that can be used to train or summon your Chocobo Companion.

*Players will need to use Thavnairian Onion in their Chocobo training to increase its rank beyond 10.
*Alternatively, players can use the Thavnairian Onion while their Chocobo is summoned in the field (must be outside a city).
*Warning: Using the onion while in a major city will result in a wasted onion even if the Chocobo has summoned time remaining. The onion MUST be used in either stable training or a combat area.
*Note: Due to the difficulty and time investment of acquiring these through gardening, which requires home ownership, this item sells for a high value on the Market Board. Players who receive the 2 Thavnairian Onions from quest rewards are strongly advised not to accidentally dispose of them even if they do not plan on training their Chocobo.
