Astrologian is a healer [[job]] introduced in 2014 Fan Fest in Tokyo. Astrologian&#039;s main [[weapon]] is the [[Star Globe]]. The job starts from level 30, will not require a base [[class]] and requires [[Heavensward]]. It employs the use of celestial magicks along with a divining deck in order to heal and support their parties.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Astrologians have access to two stances. Players can switch between Diurnal Sect (provides regen effects) and Nocturnal Sect (provides barrier effects), but cannot do so during combat. This allows the Astrologian to change function to suit the party&#039;s needs (for instance, you may use Diurnal Sect if your party includes a [[Scholar]], and Nocturnal Sect if your party has a [[White Mage]].&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Astrologians draws cards randomly, which can be used to give party members one of six buffs. These buffs can also be enhanced in potency or duration, or made to cover an area of effect in exchange for potency. Mastering these effects is a key skill in making the most of your abilities.&lt;br /&gt;

Details of some of Astrologian&#039;s abilities were announced during the Letter from the Producer LIVE Part XXI:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
There are two stances, &#039;&#039;&#039;Diurnal Sect&#039;&#039;&#039; and &#039;&#039;&#039;Nocturnal Sect&#039;&#039;&#039;, which you can switch between. One of them is simply a healing stance much like white mage, while the other uses barriers much like scholar.  You may only switch stance while out of combat.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Depending on which stance you are in the effects of your &amp;quot;Aspected&amp;quot; abilities and spell will largely vary, so first it would be best to get used to one stance and then try and master the next.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Additionally, you’ll be able to use actions such as the barrier created by Y’shtola in the main scenario and you can draw cards which will give various types of buffs.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Depending on the card that you randomly draw, you can gain effects such as enhanced attack power, haste, and also damage reduction. Furthermore, you can use the ability &#039;&#039;&#039;Royal Road&#039;&#039;&#039; to return the card you draw to your deck and enhance the next one you draw. There is also an ability to set aside a good card you drew and an ability known as &#039;&#039;&#039;Shuffle&#039;&#039;&#039; to redraw a card. It’s a really fun job where you will have to consider how to use your cards depending on the situation and the card you draw.&lt;br /&gt;

Chocobo Racing is an activity released with the [[Gold Saucer]] in patch 2.51. During this activity players act as breeders, trainers and jockeys of their [[chocobos]]. Players can enter their well-bred and carefully trained chocobos into races to increase their [[#Rank|ranks]] and win [[Manderville Gold Saucer Points]].&lt;br /&gt;

Players must complete the level 15 questline starting with [[So You Want to Be a Jockey]]. Players can start the quest by talking to [[Race Chocobo Registrar]] in [[Gold Saucer]] (x6,y4). Players must have completed [[It Could Happen to You]] previously.&lt;br /&gt;

As Chocobo earns EXP from racing, it will increase in Rank. Every time its rank increases, 5 points will be distributed to random [[#Stats|stats]]. The stat points are distributed randomly and automatically. It also earns a [[#Feeds|feeding]] opportunity. It allows the player to feed the chocobo and increase one of its stats by 1% - 3% of the stat cap based on its [[#Feeds|feed]]. [[#Feeds|Grade 1 Feed]] increases 1% of Stat Cap, Grade 2 increases 2% of Stat Cap while Grade 3 increases 3% of Stat Cap. &lt;br /&gt;
*For example a Chocobo fed with [[Grade 2 Feed - Speed Blend]] will increase its [[Maximum Speed]] by 2% of Stat Cap.&lt;br /&gt;

At Rank 10 your chocobo earns a random [[#Abilities|ability]].&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
At Rank 40 you can retire your Chocobo and use it for [[#Breeding|Breeding]].&lt;br /&gt;

Currently the max rank is 50. After that your chocobo will no longer earn EXP or rank up.&lt;br /&gt;

Note that the higher your Chocobo&#039;s Pedigree is the more EXP it needs to rank up.&lt;br /&gt;
===Rating===&lt;br /&gt;
Rating is how strong your chocobo is. It is the average number of your 5 [[#Stats|stats]] without any bonuses from [[#Feeds|feeding]]. Only the stats you gained from Rank ups, Pedigree Level and Star Ratings matter.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Rating determines what type of races your chocobo can enter. Maiden Class is for Rating 1 - 20, R-40 Class is for Rating 1 - 40, R-60 requires Rating 41 - 60 and R-80 requires Rating 41 - 80. Your chocobo will earn far greater exp and slightly more [[MGP]] in higher tier races.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
You can min-max your chocobo to emphasize a particular stat such as having 4 Stars in [[Maximum Speed]] while having 1 Stars in other stats to allow it to have lower Rating and compete in easier races.&lt;br /&gt;

If you don&#039;t feed your chocobo or use lower Grade Feeds, you will have a slight disadvantage against other chocobos with similar rating that were fed.&lt;br /&gt;

The stats of your chocobo are shown in the form (current stats)/(stat cap). Each rank up increases all of your stats, and they can also be increased through training with feed. All gains through all sources are proportional to your respective maximum in that stat. The game keeps track of decimals internally.You&#039;ll notice that if you train your bird with the same feed, the amount you get will sometimes differ by 1. This is due to internal rounding.&lt;br /&gt;

On the next Rank increase your Chocobo will randomly learn a new ability. You can also purchase a Training Manuals from [[Track &amp;amp; Feed Trader]] to teach your chocobo a specific ability.&lt;br /&gt;

Your chocobo can inherit an ability from its parents. Each parent has 50% chance of passing on its ability to a specific offspring.&lt;br /&gt;

Briar Caltrop appears as a circular wall of thorns, move away from it ASAP or it will drain about 10 to 20% of your stamina. Do not trade Briar Caltrops with another player(s), even if you sap their stamina, they will sap yours. Unaffected players will easily overtake the both of you.&lt;br /&gt;

Breeding in Chocobo Racing is called [[#Covering|Covering]]. You can retire your chocobo and use him/her for breeding when he/she reaches Rank 40. Breeding allows you to increase the Pedigree Level of your future chocobo. Every Pedigree Level increases all of your chocobo&#039;s maximum stats by 40. For example, if a Pedigree Level 1 chocobo has a max of 100 in [[stamina]], [[acceleration]] etc. A Pedigree Level 2 chocobo will have max of 140 in all of its stats.&lt;br /&gt;

Scholars are healers with [[#Pet Actions|fairies]] as their pets. Scholar is evolved from the [[classes|class]] [[Arcanist]], as is [[Summoner]]. Scholars have all the [[Arcanist Actions|abilities]] and [[Arcanist Traits|traits]] of [[Arcanist]]s. They can also use all the cross-class abilities of [[thaumaturge]] and [[conjurer]].&lt;br /&gt;
The most important [[attributes|stat]] for the scholar is [[mind]], which increases [[Healing Magic Potency|healing magic potency]]. The level of your Scholar is equivalent to that of your Arcanist. Scholars use books as weapons, and do not equip anything in their off-hand.&lt;br /&gt;

After completing the 30th level arcanist quest and fulfilling the aforementioned level requirements, speak with Mutie, the arcanist Guild Receptionist. You will receive the quest, &amp;quot;Forgotten but Not Gone&amp;quot;, which will grant a scholar soul crystal upon completion. Additional scholar quests are available every 5 levels from Alka Zolka inside the marauder&#039;s guild in Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The scholar job is equipped through the armory chest soul crystals tab in the bottom right-hand corner. It may be removed by unequipping the soul crystal in the bottom right-hand corner of the character window.&lt;br /&gt;

Bonus attribute points previously spent in the arcanist class are not reset when the scholar job is equipped.&lt;br /&gt;

==Rotations==&lt;br /&gt;
These ability rotations is based on a level 50 Black Mage.&lt;br /&gt;
===Single Target===&lt;br /&gt;
[[Thunder II]] -&amp;gt; [[Fire III]] -&amp;gt; [[Fire]] (until under 1000 [[MP]]) -&amp;gt; [[Blizzard III]] &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
*[[Thundercloud]] procs should be cast immediately and should always be [[Thunder III]].&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
*[[Firestarter]] proc should be cast immediately, unless you&#039;re entering Umbra phase, in which case you should use your normal filler spell (usually Thunder II) until full MP, then use your Firestarter proc.&lt;br /&gt;

====Tips and Tricks====&lt;br /&gt;
*Always be casting. While there are some times when interrupting your casting is necessary, some players cancel a casting in order to cast a proc&#039;d ability. Cancelling spells already in progress is always DPS loss and should be avoided unless you need to move and avoid damage.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
*The normal Black Mage rotation consist of 4 castings of Fire before you drop below the amount of MP needed to cast both Blizzard III and Thunder II. Any further casting of Fire after the fourth will result in an insufficient amount of MP to get through an Umbral phase uninterrupted.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
*In presence of [[Scholar]] or by using [[Meal|Food]] or [[Materia]], it is possible to raise your [[Piety]] to 251 or higher. It gives you enough MP to cast 5 Fire spells and continue your rotation without pause. It results in a 2.5% increase in DPS.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
*During portions of fights where movement is required, default to [[Scathe]] until you&#039;ve arrived at your new destination or use [[Swiftcast]] to keep up your current rotation.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
*If due to a Thundercloud proc you have plenty of time left on your Thunder DoT, use [[Blizzard]] as filler during Umbra phase. Also use Blizzard or Scathe on mobs that won&#039;t live long enough to justify Thunder.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
*Many Black Mage guides say use Swiftcast on cooldown. This will grant a magical dps increase in total but remove the chance to use Swiftcast for utility or in emergencies. Use at your discretion but if you choose to use it try to use it when hardcasting spells, especially tier 3 spells.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
*When sitting on a Firestarter proc in Umbra phase, use Transpose before casting Fire III to give yourself a nice damage boost. You&#039;ll do more and still be at full MP.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
*Use [[Raging Strikes]] on whenever its on cooldown unless you&#039;re planning to use it for bigger fights within 2 minutes. Maximize the phase time during Raging Strikes.&lt;br /&gt;

===Multiple Targets (AoE)===&lt;br /&gt;
[[Fire III]] -&amp;gt; [[Fire II]] (Until just above 266 MP) -&amp;gt; [[Flare]] -&amp;gt; [[Transpose]] -&amp;gt; [[Blizzard II]] x 2&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
*The above rotation in intended to be cast in the middle of a group of mobs to ensure Blizzard II hits all mobs. If you are uncomfortable standing in the middle of a group of mobs, cast the above rotation but switch out the 2 Blizzard II with 1 Blizzard III.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
*Flare requires a minimum of 266 MP to cast. Make sure your final Fire II does not force you below 266 MP. &lt;br /&gt;
====Tips and Tricks====&lt;br /&gt;
*Double Flare. Using both [[Convert]] and Swiftcast abilities, it&#039;s possible to cast 2 Flare spells within a couple seconds of each other. This technique is very effective at leveling groups of mobs quickly. Simply follow your first Flare with Convert -&amp;gt; Swiftcast -&amp;gt; Flare and continue your rotation.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
*Vary your rotation to suit your situation. Don&#039;t continue an AoE rotation when only 2 mobs left, when you&#039;re grabbing aggro and don&#039;t use Flare if your target will die before the cast finishes.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
*AoE rotations can cause a lot of aggro very quickly, make sure your tank has secured aggro on all mobs before you unleash your AoE rotation. Make sure to use damage mitigating spells like [[Manaward]] and [[Manawall]] in case you pull aggro.&lt;br /&gt;
