*The troops stationed at Porta Praetoria have been given orders to escort you to Alliance Headquarters by Gaius himself, an arrangement that does not sit well with the rank and file. It would appear the investigation into the Empire's Weapon project has finally borne fruit, though you will need to speak with those directly involved to learn more.

*Despite having visited Alliance Headquarters on several occasions, your comrades still feel the need to have you escorted there and back each time. The Resistance fighter nearby will be more than happy to show you the way.

*You discuss the latest findings of the Ironworks with Severa and Cid, whose earlier hypotheses surrounding the Ruby Weapon have been proven correct. It was equipped with a synthetic auracite system designed to forcibly supplant the consciousness of the pilot with data collected from more experienced soldiers. As Cid explains it, said data was collected via magitek devices akin to soul crystals affixed to the magitek armor of high-ranking officials. This is likely how the Garleans were able to retrieve the combat data of Nael van Darnus, who was killed prior to the Calamity, although there yet remain many questions surrounding the bizarre phenomena witnessed during the battle with the Ruby Weapon. As the Ironworks engineers endeavor to unravel this mystery, you decide to consult with Gaius and plan the next move.

*Valdeaulin gives a brief account of his mission to trace the Ruby Weapon's path back to its source. It is believed to have come from an imperial base in Werlyt, which happens to be where Alfonse and the other orphans lived before they were taken into Gaius's care. In addition, a large machina resembling a Weapon was seen being transported to the coastal town of Terncliff a few days past, and the most logical course of action is to disable it as quickly as possible. The considerable distance between the suspected Weapon and your current location poses a major obstacle, but Cid claims to have prepared a top secret plan for such an occasion.

*Cid takes great pleasure in revealing his trump card: the G-Warrior, an enormous Allagan warmachina restored to working order. He proposes that it be flown to Terncliff using the Enterprise, where it will battle the latest Weapon. It seems you were the only candidate considered as pilot, presumably owing to your preternatural abilities and abundance of combat experience. Gaius, having previously taken helm of the Ultima Weapon, will provide support remotely. Before heading to Terncliff, Cid requests that you familiarize yourself with the G-Warrior's controls using a simulator.

*Armed with a fundamental understanding of the G-Warrior, you and your allies make your way by airship to Terncliff, where the Weapon is poised to attack in the bay below. Though your fledgling abilities as a pilot are sorely tested, you eventually succeed in overcoming your foe, which now lies defeated, but largely intact, on the ocean's surface.

*After disembarking from the G-Warrior, you join the rest of your party in the now-liberated town of Terncliff. You decide to discuss the aftermath of the battle with Gaius, who may have some fresh insight to share.

*The Echo affords you a glimpse of events that unfolded prior to your arrival in Werlyt, and a conversation between Rex and Ricon, two of the orphans fostered by Gaius. With the Eorzean forces on their doorstep, Rex was committed to pilot an as-of-yet-unfinished Sapphire Weapon to afford his comrades time to escape. After much pleading, however, Ricon convinced him to trade places, and instead see the remaining Weapons to a safe location. The vision also confirms the theories surrounding the synthetic auracite and a system known as Oversoul, which fuses the pilot with the Weapon's core and replaces their consciousness with that of another soldier. After expounding on what you saw to Gaius, Cid arrives to confirm the cold, hard truth of your words.

*As Gaius is in no state of mind to speak with anybody whatsoever at present, you turn to Valdeaulin, who reveals how he came to travel alongside the former imperial legatus. After his entire village, including his wife and daughter, were captured and used in Garlean experiments on the poisonous gas that would later become Black Rose, he joined the Order of the Twin Adder to exact his revenge. He joined the assault on the Praetorium and was almost crushed as the fortress was brought crashing down, but thereupon encountered Gaius Baelsar, who was close to death. Just as Valdeaulin prepared to land the killing blow, Gaius asked that he stay his hand, at least until he could exterminate the Ascians who had orchestrated the war on Eorzea. Ever since that day, Valdeaulin has followed Gaius on his hunt, that he may judge his true intentions and slay him the moment he breaks their agreement. Valdeaulin seeks to bring a swift end to the threat posed by the Weapon project and return to eliminating the root cause rather than the symptoms of the Ascian menace.

*Now that the true nature of Oversoul has come to light, Gaius is more determined than ever to disable the remaining Weapons before they can be deployed. To that end, he and Valdeaulin will pursue Rex and the fleeing Garlean soldiers, while Cid continues to examine the imperial facility at Terncliff and the Sapphire Weapon. Your only task at present is to relay the outcome of the battle to the Resistance members at Porta Praetoria and await further instructions.

*You arrive back at Porta Praetoria where the officer in charge offers you a warm welcome. Pleasantries aside, you inform him of all that transpired at Werlyt. There is naught left to do but await further news from headquarters, though you suspect it will not be long before you and your allies are drawn back into conflict with the Empire.

*The Resistance and Alliance forces prepare in earnest as a new threat looms on the horizon.

*Upon receiving word of a fresh menace approaching the Eorzean front, you make your way to Ala Mhigo, where you are given the briefest of briefings. You are asked to meet with the Resistance troops at Porta Praetoria, where you will receive further instructions.

*A member of the Resistance forces escorts you to Alliance Headquarters, where the tension in the air is palpable. While each and every soldier stationed there has a similar bleak expression etched on their face, one man in particular is even grimmer than the rest: Gaius Baelsar.

*Gaius provides a detailed explanation of the encroaching Ruby Weapon and his failed attempt to destroy it. He and his loyal follower, Severa, tried to preemptively attack the gigantic machina using explosives, only for it to escape largely unscathed before turning to retaliate. Gaius was wounded protecting Severa, resigning the veteran combatant to the role of spectator until he has recovered. He reluctantly petitions your aid in eliminating the Ruby Weapon before it can reach Eorzea, warning you that its near-impenetrable armor plating and whip-like claws are most likely abilities stolen from absorbed primals. Once your preparations are complete, you are to speak with the Resistance soldier assigned as your escort to the battlefield.

*The Resistance soldier is to take you to the expected point of contact with the Ruby Weapon before withdrawing to a safe distance. It is clear that this is a foe far beyond the capabilities of rank-and-file troops, and even you, conqueror of the original Ultima Weapon, may be pushed to your limits.

*The climactic battle finally draws to a close, and the Ruby Weapon falls silent. Though there are many mysteries surrounding the warmachina's connection with Nael van Darnus, the former legatus of the VIIth Legion whose apparition appeared during the encounter, it seems the answers must wait for the time being. Leaving the wreckage of the gargantuan machine behind, you head towards Alliance Headquarters.

*As you turn to leave the battlefield, you are joined by Gaius, who has been observing the encounter from afar. Your conversation is interrupted by the arrival of imperial troops sent to salvage the wreckage of the Ruby Weapon. Strangely, it appears that not only are they acquaintances of Gaius's, but they address him as Father, even going so far as to ask him to return to Garlemald. Unwavering, he states that his days serving the Empire are over, though he soon loses his composure upon discovering that the pilot of the Ruby Weapon was a soldier named Milisandia. He angrily accuses the young imperials of failing to protect their sibling, to which the leader among them replies by stating that they only wished to finish what Gaius had started. They then withdraw, leaving you and the man once known as the Black Wolf to consider your next move.

*Shortly after returning to Alliance Headquarters, Gaius is, for better or worse, reunited with his former ward, Cid Garlond, who has been sent to investigate the remains of the Ruby Weapon. Although the two Garleans share a troubled history, they decide to attend to the matters at hand rather than dwell on the past. Their exchange of words is remarkably brief, and you are soon left alone with Cid, who explains that he was one of several children that Gaius had taken into his care, which apparently also included Milisandia, pilot of the Ruby Weapon, though it seems that Cid was unfamiliar with her name until now. He then returns to the task of gathering information on your fallen foe and leaves for the battlefield.

*Cid returns somewhat sooner than expected from his investigation with urgent news for Gaius. It seems that not only did Milisandia perish inside the Ruby Weapon's cockpit, as was feared, but her physical form was fused with its core, a horrific spectacle that has left Cid visibly shaken. The Empire, not content to stop at using its pilots as disposable commodities, appears to be dabbling in implanting combat data from elite soldiers such as the deceased Nael van Darnus into living hosts, though the exact methods are as yet unclear. While the immediate threat of the Ruby Weapon has been eliminated, the possibility of ever more dangerous foes cannot be ignored, so Cid, Gaius, and the other members of the group set about learning what they can of the Weapon project. You, on the other hand, are advised to rest in preparation for the struggles that lie ahead, though it would seem prudent to first inform the Resistance troops in Ala Mhigo of the outcome of the battle.

*You return to Porta Praetoria to share the events surrounding your encounter with the Ruby Weapon. The details are quickly compiled into a written report to be conveyed to the higher ranks of the Resistance and Alliance, while a copy will be retained at the camp for you to peruse at your leisure, should you feel so inclined. The information you have provided may prove to be invaluable in the days to come, as it is clear the danger posed by the Weapon project is far from over.
While on the subject, you take the opportunity to ask him what he knows of Warriors of Light, and he seems all too eager to enlighten you─when suitably prepared. The librarian duly heads back to the Cabinet of Curiosity to gather up materials, and bids you join him there at your earliest convenience.

*Reporting for your lesson at the Cabinet, you are soon joined by Alphinaud, Alisaie, and Ryne, who chanced to be there on separate errands. His class duly assembled, Moren proceeds to explain that, despite sharing no apparent connection, many individuals have been hailed as Warriors of Light throughout Vrandtic history, and that in time the title came to be a synonym for hero. Intrigued, Alphinaud observes that the pithet is similarly used in the Source, and posits that Hydaelyn is likely the common thread. As you ponder what this might imply, you are interrupted by a little girl's excited boice followed by the rumble of tumbling tomes. You turn towards the commotion to find three Crystarium younglings, a shame-faced Riqi-Tio and her friends Arkil and Eirwel, whom Moren wastes no time chastising for their lack of care. Upon realizing she is in the presence of the great Warrior of Darkness, however, Riqi-Tio's chagrin reverts to excitement, and she can barely contain herself as she asks you what she must do to become a hero─or "Warrior of Light."

*In impassioned tones, Riqi-Tio elaborates on her ambition. She wishes to become a specific kind of Warrior of Light─one who uses potions to fight─and has come to the Cabinet to study. Rather than through tomes, however, Alphinaud believes he stands to learn best by observing the chirurgeons at work, and to that end he bids you accompany the Mystel child to Spagyrics.

*The kindly Chessamile takes Riqi-Tio under her wing, and entrusts her with a task: retrieving a potion ingredient from Sweetsieve. Lest her new charge come to harm, the chief chirurgeon requests that you go along to keep a watchful eye, before directing you to seek out a woman named Gracine.

*Gracine informs you that Chessamile's order is for grapes, but apologetically adds that they have yet to be harvested. At her suggestion, you go to help Alphinaud and Riqi-Tio pick bunches of undersized fruit directly from the vines.

*You pick what appears to be a reasonable haul of grapes, and take them to Riqi-Tio

*Fruit-picking concluded, Alphinaud asks Riqi-Tio what inspired her decision to become an apothecary and a Warrior of Light. The girl's response prompts him to reevaluate his belief that it was Elidibus who planted the desire to become Warriors of Light within people's hearts. Instead, he conclude, the desire to help their fellow man was present from the beginning. Having reaffirmed his resolve to settle matters in the First before departing for the Source, Alphinaud bends his steps back to Spagyrics, and you follow in turn.

Dialogue
Accepting the Quest
Manager of Suites: Ah, [Player]. Will you be venturing forth today? Do be sure to take care if so. Though they say the starshower was harmless, one can never be too careful...But I concede it is not for me to tell the Warrior of Darkness how to look after him/herself. Old habits, you understand.

???: Ah, [Player]! How very opportune!

Moren: Greetings, my friend. Do you perchance have a moment to spare?

Moren: Wonderful, wonderful! I wanted to thank you, you see. For revealing to us the truth of the Warriors of Light. After all these years, your tale set the record straight. Finally, the people see them as the great heroes they were. Or the great hero he is in the case of Ardbert. You too were surprised to see him, I think?

Moren: At the time, I was not certain what to make of it all, but I could see the effect his words had on those around me. And then the stars rained down from the sky, and...well, you know the rest. When the commotion died down, you were nowhere to be seen, but I was determined to express my gratitude. And so here I am. Thank you, [Player]─for giving voice to the truth, and restoring the Warriors of Light to their rightful place in history.

Moren: Should you, perhaps, wish to have your account of these matters committed to writing, I would be more than willing to serve as your scribe. Indeed, if there is anything I can do to help─anything at all─you need only say the word.

Player: What can you tell me about the Warriors of Light? / Very well. Tell me what the situation is like in the city.

Moren: I beg your pardon? You wish to ask me about the Warriors of Light? Forgive me, but I daresay you already know more about them than any living soul─save for Ardbert himself, of course. Unless...you refer to the Warriors of Light more broadly? If so, I may yet be able to assist you in some small way. Excellent! I shall return to the Cabinet at once and look up the relevant texts. Pray join me at your earliest convenience.

Manager of Suites: No rest for the righteous, it would seem. Do not let me keep you. I bid you a pleasant day.

At the Cabinet of Curiosity
Moren: Ah, [Player], excellent timing. I have but this moment finished gathering the materials for our lesson. As a great many works make reference to the Warriors of Light, I shall─with your permission─focus only upon the details that seem most relevant.

Alphinaud: The Warriors of Light, you say? Forgive us, but we couldn't help overhearing.

Alisaie: We've been out keeping watch over the Crystarium, but it appears to be business as usual. So I thought I'd spend some time brushing up my knowledge of familiars and Alphinaud volunteered to help.

Ryne: I...actually came on a different errand, but I'd be interested in hearing about the Warriors of Light as well. May I join you?

Moren: Of course, of course! The more the merrier! If you would care to find a table below, I shall be down with the books in a moment.

Moren: Were one to pore over the annals of Vrandtic history, one would note the comparatively frequent recurrence of individuals hailed as "Warriors of Light." Ardbert and his comrades require no introduction, but many others bore the epithet long before them.

Moren: To name but a few, there was Tolthewil, legendary first king of Lakeland, Roddfort and Saulard, the fabled Drahn and Galdjent duo of Voeburt...And no list of Vrandtic heroes would be complete without the archmage Tiuna of Ronka. In older texts, she too was called a Warrior of Light.

Alisaie: It did surprise me how ready people were to forget the negative associations of the title. But it makes sense if it's been around for centuries.

Moren: Verily. In ages past, it was simply a synonym for "hero." In the wake of the Flood, however, Light came to be regarded with fear; the title used not to exalt, but to revile. A far cry from its beginnings...

Moren: This, my friends, is Norvrandt's oldest epic. The original tale of the struggle between good and evil. In a time when all lay shrouded in Darkness, a prophesied hero rose to deliver the world from its doom. Fighting in the name of the Light, the hero styled himself its foot soldier. And thus did he come to be known as "The Warrior of Light." Curiously, in the centuries that followed, other heroes appeared who claimed the selfsame epithet, despite sharing no discernible connection with their predecessors. And in time, Warrior of Light came to be a name accorded to all men and women of uncommon skill and valor.

Alphinaud: Well, well...The plot thickens. As you know, the title of Warrior of Light is also used in the Source. Though the manners in which individuals have earned it are many and varied, heroes have been honored thus since antiquity. Nor does the custom show any sign of dying out─as you can well attest.

Ryne: It makes you wonder, doesn't it...It surely can't be a coincidence.

Alphinaud: Indeed not. Let us imagine a man who has awakened to the Echo and is able to hear Hydaelyn's voice. As She styles him, so too does he style himself─a Warrior of Light. Of course, being blessed with the Echo does not in itself make one a hero. And conversely, there will have been no few heroes who were not blessed with it. But such distinctions are immaterial to the masses, and over time they came to use the title "Warrior of Light" and the word "hero" interchangeably.

Alisaie: Sounds about right. It would be interesting to see if the theory holds true in the other worlds─if crossing the rift were that easy.

Player: Hydaelyn did call me a Warrior Light. / What's in a name? It doesn't change anything. / And there I was thinking I was special...

Ryne: She did? I've never heard Her voice myself. But I can feel Her presence. Perhaps through Minfilia.

Alisaie: At any rate, assuming all of this is true, and there's a common thread behind the epithet, I doubt the Ascians will have been amused. To have the world at large associate Light, and by extension Hydaelyn, with "good" must have added insult to injury.

Moren: Ahem. While this discussion is undeniably fascinating, I wonder...should I be privy to it? Mayhap it would be better if I excused myself...?

Alphinaud: Oh! No need for that, my friend! Pray accept our apologies. Your lesson on the Warriors of Light has given us much to ponder...

Little Girl's Voice: Ooh, ooh! Did someone say Warriors of Light!? Uwaahh!!

Moren: Riqi-Tio! Are you all right!? Ahhh, my precious tomes...<sigh> Did I not say you must take care in the Cabinet? You too, Arkil! Eirwel!

Arkil: We're sorry, Master Moren...<gasp> Aren't you...?

Riqi-Tio: ...The Warrior of Darkness!? M-My name's Riqi-Tio, and...and I want to help everyone! Please, tell me what I have to do to be a hero─to be a Warrior of Light!

Riqi-Tio: So, I want to be a Warrior of Light. But not one that fights with a sword and all that. No, I want to be the kind that fights with potions and heals people! An apothecary! And I'm going to help everyone in the Crystarium. No, in all of Norvrandt! When I told Arkil and Eirwel this, they said that the Cabinet should have lots of tomes about potions. But this place is so big, and we don't have the faintest idea where to begin searching. At this rate, I'm not going to get anywhere...

Alphinaud: If one knew where to look, one should indeed be able to find treatises on potions here. Even so, I fear they may prove a little difficult for ones so young. But hmmm...Esteemed Warrior of Darkness, perhaps you might accompany young Riqi-Tio to Spagyrics? Rather than through tomes, I believe she stands to learn more by observing the chirurgeons at their work.

Alisaie: Sounds like a plan. It seems we've finished here, so we'll come with you.

Player: Last one to Spagyrics is a rotten egg! / I'll go, but only for a little while. / I don't have time for this...

Riqi-Tio: Hah, I'll have you know I'm really fast! You're going to be the rotten egg!

At the Spagyrics
Chessamile: Well now, to what do I owe the pleasure of so many bright-eyed visitors? Is that the way of it, sweetie? You wish to learn about medicine?

Riqi-Tio: That's right! I want to become a Warrior of Light who uses potions to help people all over the world!

Chessamile: Well, that is a very noble endeavor, and you aren't alone in it. No few at our infirmary yearn to venture forth as Warriors of Light. But ultimately, they have all decided not to pursue that dream.

Riqi-Tio: Huh? Why?

Chessamile: Because the people here need them too, sweetie. The guards who place themselves in harm's way to keep us safe. The artisans who toil tirelessly that we might sustain our way of life. And younglings like you, who are the future of the Crystarium. They couldn't simply abandon them, you see. And so, difficult though it was, they made the decision to remain.

Riqi-Tio: Then...does this mean my dream isn't any good?

Chessamile: Oh, sweetie, yours is a wonderful dream. And it would be my pleasure to help you to pursue it. If we all work hard, the day will come when our chirurgeons may set forth to aid folk in every corner of the realm. As we strive towards that day, I hope that we can rely upon you as well. Though I must warn you, ours is not an easy path. No, you must work very, very hard.

Riqi-Tio: I'm not afraid of hard work! I'll become the best apothecary ever, just you watch!

Chessamile: Hee hee, that's the spirit! Without further ado, then, may I entrust you with a task? I have placed an order at Sweetsieve for a potion ingredient, and I would like you to go and collect it.

Riqi-Tio: Ooh, an ingredient! Leave it to me, miss!

Chessamile: My, such an abundance of energy. Though I can't help wonder if she'll be all right by herself...My apologies, but would you mind accompanying her? When you arrive at Sweetsieve, speak with a woman named Gracine, and she will point you in the right direction.

Alphinaud: I shall join you. As the one who suggested this course to Riqi-Tio, I would assist in her first steps.

Alisaie: And what about the two of you? Are you coming along too?

Eirwel: Well, we do want to become Warriors of Light, just not the same kind as Riqi. So we'll wait for you here, Warrior of Darkness. When you return, please teach us how to fight!

Alisaie: In that case, Ryne and I shall keep them company and take the opportunity to ask about their aspirations.

At Sweetsieve
Gracine: <gasp> If it isn't the Warrior of Darkness themselves! May I assume you are with Master Alphinaud? Right. Lest you wonder, Chessamile's order is for grapes. As busy as we have been of late, however, I regret to say we didn't have the time to harvest them. So it was with apologies that I asked Master Alphinaud and his young companion to help themselves to the fruits on the vines. Perhaps you could lend them a hand? It's the undersized grapes you'll want to pick. They're too small for normal consumption, but suitable for making wine and medicine.

Riqi-Tio: Oh, you're here too? We're picking little grapes. It's quite fun! Wow, you've picked this many already!? Amazing!

Alphinaud: I daresay we have enough between us. Shall we take them back to Chessamile?

Riqi-Tio: Heh heh! I can't wait to see what she's going to do with them!

Alphinaud: Tell me, Riqi─what made you want to become an apothecary and Warrior of Light?

Riqi-Tio: Why? Well...A while ago, I fell sick. Really sick. My body was burning up, and I felt so weak I couldn't even get out of bed. Then a traveling apothecary came and gave me a potion to drink. It was the foulest thing I'd ever tasted...but it made me get better! She was so brave─the apothecary, I mean. She went around taking care of people, even when it was dangerous. And I decided I wanted to help people, just like her. So I started brewing potions out of grass and giving them to my friends. But I didn't really know what I was doing, or if there was anything else I could do.

Riqi-Tio: Then not long ago, a neighbor told me he was going to become a Warrior of Light, and go traveling the world, helping people. And I thought, that's the same as what I want to do!

Alphinaud: I see. Out of curiosity, what did your neighbor do in the end?

Riqi-Tio: Theyler? I haven't seen him for a bit, so he must already be out there looking for people to help.

Alphinaud: Theyler...One of the guards awakened by the starshower. Thank you for sharing your tale with us, Riqi-Tio. I myself took inspiration from one not unlike your traveling apothecary, and I hope her good example will spur you on to realize your dreams. But it will not be done in a day. Such lofty goals are reached through hard work and persistence, through countless little acts of heroism─like delivering the grapes to Chessamile.

Alphinaud:...It would seem I have been laboring under a misapprehension. I had convinced myself that it was Elidibus who had sowed the desire to become Warriors of Light within the hearts of the people. But I see now that the impulse to aid their fellow man abided within them from the first. Elidibus did no more than give it a name. And as he so kindly proclaimed, we must return to our own world ere long. With the Exarch laboring tirelessly, I doubt not but that a way will be found.

Alphinaud: Yet I believe I speak for us all when I say I cannot leave in good conscience─not until we have dealt with Elidibus. This is no longer a strange and distant land, after all. Norvrandt has become as a home to us, and her people our own. Hm. Let us return to Spagyrics. It wouldn't do to keep your admirers waiting.

Finishing the Quest
Chessamile: My thanks for your kind help, sweetie. We now have all the ingredients we require. From the grapes we shall make a vinegar, to which we will add elf grass and a few other herbs to produce an invigorating syrup. Though it's unspeakably sour, it does wonders for the constitution. As part of her studies, I may just have to give Riqi-Tio a little taste. Hee hee!

Journal
*While he and the others tend to the black-masked Ascians, Thancred bids you join Y'shtola at Anamnesis Anyder as a precautionary measure. To get there, you will need to secure a boat at Venmont Yards─just as soon as you've doled out Tataru's bread, that is.

*At Venmont Yards, a shipwright recognizes you at once and happily agrees to ready a boat for you.

※In the event that you leave the instance, you may reenter by speaking with the idle shipwright.

*To your dismay, you arrive at Anyder to find Y'shtola unconscious. Before you can go to her aid, however, Elidibus appears and spirits her away. If you want your comrade back, it seems you must treat the Ascian to a demonstration of your strength. With no other recourse, you grit your teeth and prepare to enter the aetherial stream.

*You ride the aether to emerge in Emet-Selch's phantom Amaurot, where Elidibus instructs you to fight your way to the Capitol. The trial pits you against recreations of myriad faces from your past, and at the last the Ascian himself enters the fray in the guise of Ardbert─yet it soon becomes plain that even he is overmatched.

*No sooner does your trial conclude than Y'shtola arrives at your side, having apparently freed herself. Gazing upon Elidibus with a mixture of pity and scorn, she proceeds to expose him for what he truly is: a primal, granted strength by the desire for salvation. Thus has he sought to inspire the masses to rise up as Warriors of Light. Unmoved, the Ascian coolly confirms Y'shtola's theories, but when she subsequently questions whether the many voices that sustain him have irrevocably changed his own, his expression hardens. No matter how much he should forget, he declares, he will always remember his duty. With that, he vanishes, but not before serving notice of his intent to gain the power to defeat you.

*The danger now passed, you finally have the chance to apprise Y'shtola of recent events. Having listened to your tale, she goes to collect her possessions from Anyder in preparation for your journey to Eulmore.
*You eventually catch up with Y'shtola at the aetheryte plaza, and together walk the last few steps to rejoin your assembled friends.

*Your comrades listen intently as you recount your recent adventure in the depths, their faces turning grim at the revelation that Elidibus is a primal. Even as you ponder what your foe may do next, another starshower appears in the skies over Eulmore, this time accompanied by an illusion of Amaurot... Yet it does not end there, for you are promptly set upon by spectral warriors who emerge from arcane rings resembling those conjured in the Exarch's summoning rituals. Whatever the reason for this uncanny similarity, all agree that you must take the battle elsewhere lest innocents fall into harm's way. To that end, you resolve to board a waiting airship and fly for the Crystarium.

※Speak with your companion NPCs outside the instance entrance if you wish to enlist them for this duty.

※Use the Duty Finder if you wish to complete the instance alongside fellow players.

*Not long into your flight, the airship sustains heavy damage and you are forced to land in the wastes of Amh Araeng. Wings thus clipped, you have no choice but to make your way back to the Crystarium on foot, with spectral foes dogging your every step. Though your route proves to be unexpectedly circuitous, aided by many a friend made during your time in Norvrandt, you finally emerge in the familiar environs of Lakeland.

*So near and yet so far. But a short distance from the Crystarium, you are surrounded by an army of spectral warriors, halting your party's breathless advance. In an oft-repeated scene, your comrades duly volunteer to hold the enemy at bay while you alone press on to your destination, and so you leave them. As you plunge through the forest, you stumble upon the prostrate forms of the Exarch and Beq Lugg, who have apparently escaped a close encounter with Elidibus. In rueful tones, they inform you that the Ascian has stolen the Exarch's spirit vessel─and has thus acquired the means to control the Crystal Tower. Despite his fast-advancing crystallization, the Exarch expresses his determination to help you to put a stop to Elidibus's plot, and fixes his gaze upon the tower.

*Nearing the Crystarium, the Exarch begs leave to make a brief stop at the Accensor Gate, hoping to send guards to Beq Lugg's aid.

*While the Exarch is issuing instructions, Lyna arrives to take charge of the situation in the Crystarium. Knowing all too well what is at stake, the two share a brief but heartfelt moment, and then you and the Exarch forge on towards the city.

*At the Exedra, the Exarch observes with satisfaction that the ward he and Beq Lugg raised over the tower still holds. Within awaits your foe, made mighty by the hopes of the countless heroes he has summoned from other reflections. At a word from you, the Exarch will lift the ward and open the way to your reckoning with Elidibus. See that you are ready.

* The air is heavy with anticipation as you take your place in the chamber, and you try unsuccessfully not to think about all the things that could go wrong. After a moment's hesitation, you give the signal to proceed, and Beq Lugg commences the ritual, directing the Scions to commit first their memories to the spirit vessels, and then their very souls. The deed duly done, the crystals and their precious contents are entrusted to your safekeeping. All that remains is for you to step into the mirror and see your friends home.

* It is an otherwise ordinary day when you throw open the doors of the Rising Stones and step into its familiar surrounds, but the Twelve know your purpose is anything but ordinary. A few words are enough to convey this fact to Krile and Tataru, who share a tense look before ushering you to the infirmary. The spirit vessels safely in place, you wait with bated breath...and heave a sigh of relief as, one by one, your friends awaken in their own bodies once more. As far as you have come, however, one soul remains to be restored to its rightful home, and thus do you return to the road, bound for the beacon of hope that gleams in the distance...

* Some days later, it is with great jubilation that the Scions welcome a new addition to their ranks: a bright-eyed youth named G'raha Tia. And together with comrades old and new, you set your sights upon the many adventures still to come.

* Though you have reached a momentous malmstone in your journey, the road stretches on to places beyond imagining. Yet whatever may lie ahead, and whatever hardships you may face, you have faith that your experiences in the First will give you the strength to forge ever onward.
The Firmament is a section of Ishgard and the target of The Ishgard Restoration. It features a summoning bell, skybuilders' board, traders, and a shop.

Patch 5.21
Additional Content
The united efforts of Eorzea's volunteer gatherer's and crafters eventually lead to the rebuilding of the Mendicant's Court, allowing the Skybuilders to focus their reconstruction efforts on other areas of Ishgard. Players looking to offer their skills can speak with Augebert in the Firmament to proceed with the restoration storyline, opening up new crafting and construction options, including more Concerted Works, which can be monitored via the Skybuilder's Board (X:11.4, Y:14.1).

From here on, players will require completely different materials compared to those used during the previous phase, though you can still hand in older materials for a slightly decreased reward if desired.

By handing in special materials or crafted items during the new restoration project, players will also earn a Skybuilders' Ranking. To check your ranking, pay a visit to Ludovraint (X:10.6, Y:14.6) at the Firmament.

Kupo of Fortune
Disciples of the Hand (crafters) can now partake in the new mini-game Kupo of Fortune - a scratch card which is usable after earning five vouchers. Said vouchers are acquired by handing in specific items to Potkin (X:12.2, Y:14.6) at the Firmament.

Once the five vouchers have been acquired, and the scratch card has been brought to Lizbeth (X:12.2, Y:14.6) in the Firmament, players can select one of three panels from the right side of the scratch card for a chance of receiving one of the listed rewards (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th). Alternatively, players can select the single left panel for a chance at receiving a reward listed in 2nd, 3rd or 4th place. In short, the left panel will never provide the player with the 1st or 5th prize. Only a single panel can be selected per scratch card, so choose wisely!

Speaking to Potkin will also unlock project-specific recipes and add them to your crafting log.

The Diadem
The Diadem has undergone a mechanical makeover specifically aimed at Disciples of the Land (gatherers). Players looking to acquire materials used in Ishgardian Restoration recipes can now head to the Diadem at their leisure and utilize any Disciple of the Land (Miner, Botanist or Fisher), provided they are level 10 or above. Creatures encountered at the Diadem will now remain in a passive state, giving gatherer's the freedom to traverse the Diadem and gather resources at their leisure without the threat of being attacked. However, thanks to the new Aetheromatic Auger (which is essentially a limit-break for gatherers), players can utilize a specialized rocket-launcher to obliterate a creature in return for a hefty sum of materials. The Aetheromatic Auger gauge is filled by successfully gathering items as a Miner or Botanist.

Despite the Diadem being centric to Ishgard Restoration material gathering, it will still provide Disciples of the Land with level-adjusted experience and a chance of rare and valuable materials, making it a great option regardless of the gatherer's level. It is also worth noting that some materials can only be gathered during specific weather conditions within the Diadem (Umbral Flare, Umbral Tempest, Umbral Levin, Umbral Duststorm). Also, materials are somewhat randomized, meaning that you will not get the same resources by using the same gathering node repeatedly or by remaining in a particular area.

Once your foray into the Diadem is complete, players can bring the gathered materials to Flotpassant (X:10.8, Y:14.0) in the Firmament for inspection. After doing so, players are rewarded with Skybuilders' scrips, and the materials can then be used for Ishgard Restoration crafting recipes, or even be sold via the market board.

5.21 Skybuilders' Scrip Rewards
*Speak with Francel.

Journal
*At Francel's urging, Marcelloix tells you his tale. He used to support his family as a craftsman, he explains, but disillusioned with the commonfolk's lot, he made the decision to leave Ishgard and follow Lady Iceheart. By the time he had completed his transformation into a dragon, however, the war had ended. And to make matters worse, he found that he was unable to revert to his original form. Deeply remorseful, Marcelloix wishes to make amends to his wife and child, and at Francel's suggestion, he decides to express himself through action, using his skills to make gifts for them and other residents. To begin with, Francel offers to find a suitable venue for Marcelloix to do his work, and together you make your way into the New Nest.

*To help with his crafting, Marcelloix asks that you supply him with two pots of cream yellow dye, which you can choose to craft yourself or purchase from Eilonwy at the Mendicant's Court.

*You have delivered the cream yellow dye to Marcelloix. With the crafting proceeding apace, Francel declares that it is time to arrange a gathering. While Foncrineau goes off to find the residents, you are tasked with personally bearing word to Audaine.

*Though Audaine remains undecided as to whether she wishes to take back her husband, your words convince her to come and hear what Marcelloix has to say. Your invitation thus delivered, you make your way to the gathering at the top of the steps at Saint Roelle's Dais.

*Marcelloix presents his gifts, his earnest gesture winning over even those residents who had voiced their disapproval of him. Not least of all, Audaine finds it in her hearts to give him a second chance even if forgiveness won't come overnight. Wishing to thank you and Francel both, Marcelloix asks that you accompany him to find the young lord.
Marcelloix presents Francel with a gift as a token of his appreciation. When Ehll Tou expresses her displeasure at not being recognized, Francel placates the dragonet by granting her permission to freely come and go from the Firmament. Last but not least, Marcelloix presents you with a gift of your own. Though helping others is its own reward, the experience serves to stoke your determination to strive for the happiness of the people of the Firmament.
