| description = Your latest odd job commission brings you together with one Y'nazqha, a gleaner who finds herself in possession of an unusual book inherited from her father and mentor. It contains a rendition of The Merchant's Tale, a fable passed down through generations in Corvos. While the beautifully illuminated pages of the manuscript set it apart from common storybooks, its most singular feature is the enchantment which can pull the very mind of its readers into the story.

And so it is you are thrust into the role of bodyguard for Y'nazqha, who becomes the eponymous merchant while journeying within the tale. Together you must travel through a world steeped in folklore and find a treasure of immeasurable worth─treasure grand enough to stir even the most hardened heart.
Level Sync
Unlike the three previous variant dungeons, The Merchant's Tale allows players to level to up to 100.

The level of all participants will be adjusted upwards to 100, and item level will be adjusted upwards or downwards to 765. Gear is not item level synced; instead, players are given fixed stats (per equipment slot) appropriate to their job. This also means materia bonuses will be ignored, regardless of the item level of gear affixed with materia. Please ensure that a full set of gear is equipped, as empty equipment slots will provide no stats.

Experience will be gained based on a player's unsynced level and rewarded to the class or job equipped upon defeating the boss and completing the duty. Players with an unsynced level of 100 or above will receive Allagan tomestones as a reward.

Objectives
|-
| Spurning Flames || Party-wide magical damage and gives the boss a buff Fury buff (mostly for flavor).
!Description
|-
|Malefic Quartering || Gives each player a 33-second debuffdebuffdebuffdebuff Malefic N/E/S/W debuff and draws four sectors around their character, one of which is red. Being hit with certain directional attacks from a red sector will deal heavy damage. The orientation of the sectors is fixed and does not change based on where the player faces (unlike with the more well-known Analysis mechanic in previous encounters).
|-
|Vanishing Horizon|| Two opposite telegraphed 90 degree cleaves, then two more telegraphed cleaves hitting the initial safe spots.
|-
|Will of the Underworld|| The arena will be split in half, one half being hit with an eastward-directed AoE, and the other westward-directed. Players must go to the half that prevents their vulnerable sector from facing the AoE origin, or they will take much greater damage.
|-
|Crusher of Lions|| The arena will be split into four quadrants, each being hit with a directional AoE from the center. Players must go to a quadrant that prevents their vulnerable sector from facing the AoE origin.
|-
|Earth-rending Eight|| Two telegraphed circle AoEs near opposite corners, immediately followed with telegraphed 8-way "starburst" line AoEs in the same locations.
|-
|Waiting Wounds|| Spawns three vertical sets of three circle AoEs, each covering a little over a third of the arena. Start in the third set that spawns and dodge into the first.
|-
|Heavens' Confluence|| Marks a player for a spread AoE, which is combined with a telegraphed point-blank into donut AoE (or vice versa).
|-
|Malefic Quartering || Now gives each player a 48-second debuffdebuffdebuffdebuff Malefic N-E/S-E/S-W/N-W debuff, causing two adjacent sectors to be unsafe from directional attacks instead of one.
|-
|Unyielding Will || Each player is targeted with an L-shaped AoE. If the AoE will hit a vulnerable sector, they should move through the AoE telegraph (flipping the L) so it hits the opposite (safe) side. Prior to the AoE resolving, each player will be debuff bound for 2 seconds.
|-
|Steelsbreath Release || Party-wide physical damage. Combined with several additional effects based on the route (see following).
|-
|Concentrativity || Physical damage and a telegraphed knockback from the boss. If the player is standing on a quadrant opposite their debuff, the knockback will be very weak. However, if standing on a quadrant matching their debuff, they will be knocked into the wall. This knockback can also be prevented with knockback immunities, but since this attack is used twice in proximity, it will only work for one.
|-
|Concentrativity || A telegraphed radial knockback from the boss, which cannot be prevented with knockback immunities. Popup: Among the many paths before him, the merchant chose the backstreet, lined with homes.
Popup: What awaits at road's end?
Y'nazqha: What are those!?
Y'nazqha: Beasts, here!? It looks like they're attacking someone─we must help, [Forename]!
Y'nazqha: Are you hurt?
Pursued Peasant: I'm...I'm unharmed, thanks to you. Just who are you, anyways?
Y'nazqha: I'm but a humble merchant, and this is my trusty bodyguard. We are searching for treasure said to be of value immeasurable.
Pursued Peasant: Hmm... Perhaps you'll find what you seek in the plains to the west. There lies an old abandoned palace, said to house a veritable mountain of treasure.
Y'nazqha: An abandoned palace? Why, that sounds perfect! Thank you, kind sir.
Pursued Peasant: It's the least I could offer. Safe travels.
Y'nazqha: And the story unfurls further!
Y'nazqha: What could be in an abandoned palace but abandoned treasure? Let our search begin in earnest!
x@Unnamed Man A: I could go for a cup of tea...
x@Unnamed Man B: Phew... I think a quick break is in order.
Popup: The young merchant and his bodyguard reached a green expanse, the gentle breeze carrying sweet scents through the air.
Y'nazqha: There's nothing like the gentle caress of the wind! And that smell...something sweet is in the air!
Y'nazqha: That tree...
Y'nazqha: If you don't mind!
Y'nazqha: So that was the scent of apples! I thought so. The orchard keeps going in that direction, it seems.
Y'nazqha: These apples were grown by a caretaker's hand. Beyond the orchard we might find a settlement!
Question: Which way should we go?
> Let's follow the fruit.
Y'nazqha: If there's a settlement nearby, someone might be able to point us towards the nearest treasure.
Y'nazqha: This is no time to be staring at apples trees, Nazqha!
Y'nazqha: Even the beasts have a sweet scent about them!
Y'nazqha: This tale has no shortage of danger!
Popup: Standing in their path was a monstrous bird with an appetite for flesh.
Popup: Yet the sight did not perturb the bodyguard, who stood steadfast and dauntless.
Y'nazqha: Get your weapon ready!
Y'nazqha: Where have I seen this before...? Careful─it appears to be in a foul mood!
Popup: The spheres of sand grow massive in size...
Popup: The spheres of sand fade out of sight...
Y'nazqha: What? It disappeared? There was a ball of dirt over there, right?
Y'nazqha: Wait, the balls are still here, we just can't see them! Remember their position before they turn invisible!
Y'nazqha: It must still be here somewhere! Look carefully for traces of its passage!
Y'nazqha: It can turn the seeds invisible too!? Remember where they are!
Y'nazqha: Exactly the outcome I expected! Even an invisible enemy is no match for your cunning, [Forename]!
Popup: Though the bird was laid low, the path ahead was treacherous still.
Y'nazqha: Are those...grapes!?
Y'nazqha: Mmm... They are! Slightly bitter, but delightfully sweet!
Y'nazqha: You know, we have selectively bred grapes in Labyrinthos.
Y'nazqha: Oh, and here I was hoping for a feast!
Y'nazqha: Eyaaah! Apologies, but combat is not my specialty!
Y'nazqha: What wondrous sights await us, I wonder?

> I have a good feeling about the other way.
Y'nazqha: I see your thinking: where there's fewer people, there's more hidden treasure to be found!
Y'nazqha: I leave the combat to you!
Y'nazqha: Those appeared to be naught but seedlings... I shudder to think what they might grow into.
Y'nazqha: I didn't expect to see bombs here...
Y'nazqha: We should get to a safe distance before they explode.
Popup: From the lamp before them emerged a grinning genie.
Y'nazqha: Do you see that, [Forename]!? It's almost as if...it's beckoning us forward.
Popup: The bodyguard readied his weapon, eager to prove the truth of his fierce reputation.
Y'nazqha: Is that a magic lamp I see!? Just how long was it waiting for us?
Genie of the Lamp (Enemy)@Genie of the Lamp: Welcome, welcome! The guests of honor are here at last!
Genie of the Lamp (Enemy)@Genie of the Lamp: The curtain rises on the big show! Dare not look away, or else!
Genie of the Lamp (Enemy)@Genie of the Lamp: Now we turn up the heat! Do make sure not to get burned!
Genie of the Lamp (Enemy)@Genie of the Lamp: Splendid! Look how they dart about! Be aware that I take no responsibility in case of grievous injury!
Genie of the Lamp (Enemy)@Genie of the Lamp: Let us end on a high note! An explosive note!
Genie of the Lamp (Enemy)@Genie of the Lamp: That was only the opening act! Keep your eyes peeled─you won't want to miss this next part!
Y'nazqha: Keep your wits about you and your eyes sharp! An opening will present itself!
Genie of the Lamp (Enemy)@Genie of the Lamp: Now for the part no one expects─the encore! Can you keep up the energy for just a little longer?
Genie of the Lamp (Enemy)@Genie of the Lamp: Oh ho, you really know how to put on a show! But I can't let my own guests upstage me!
Genie of the Lamp (Enemy)@Genie of the Lamp: Bang! Boom! And a blast for good measure!
Y'nazqha: I must say, that was a grand display! If that genie wasn't trying to kill us, I would certainly watch it again!
Popup: Although their foe lay defeated, their journey was far from over.
Y'nazqha: Ah, look! Could those be...
Y'nazqha: I knew it! This singular blend of bitter and sweet...
Y'nazqha: You know, we grow these in Labyrinthos as well─ [Forename], watch out!
Y'nazqha: Those grapes almost took a bite out of me!
---

Y'nazqha: The horizon stretches as far as the eye can see! Oh, is that...? Why, I think it's the palace!
Y'nazqha: Now how do we get down there...

> Interacting with the damaged fence
Y'nazqha: [Forename]!? Are you... Oh, can I get down from over there!?
Y'nazqha: Here I go!
Y'nazqha: I made it! And I didn't even trip! ...Hm?
Y'nazqha: What have we here...?
Y'nazqha: Is that a bird's nest? Those look like chicks.
x@Legendary Bird Chick A: <chirp>
Willful Wind: Hehehe! I'll be taking this!
x@Legendary Bird Chick A: <squeak> <chirp>
x@Legendary Bird Chick B: <chirp> <chirp>
x@Legendary Bird Chick C: <chirp>!
Willful Wind: Hahaha!
>> Attacking the Willful Wind
Willful Wind: Ouch!
Willful Wind: How dare you!
Willful Wind: Grrr! Now you've made me mad!
Y'nazqha: That...doesn't look good!
Willful Wind: Ungh... You'll regret this!
Legendary Bird: <screech> <screech>
x@Legendary Bird Chick A: <squeak>! <squeak>!
Y'nazqha: It sounds grateful that we protected its chicks!
>> Not attacking the Willful Wind
Willful Wind: See you never!
Y'nazqha: It stole their food!
---
Y'nazqha: Although our goal is in sight, we mustn't let our guard down!
Y'nazqha: There's treasure here, I can feel it!
Popup: At last, the merchant and his bodyguard set foot inside the palace, its ornate entrance hinting at bygone resplendence.
Y'nazqha: Friends of the spirit we encountered before?
> Ignoring the damaged fence and going left on the path
Y'nazqha: Here we are! I expect we'll be accosted soon enough, so be careful!
Y'nazqha: Ah, I saw these flowers in a field guide! I believe they're used to make honey.
Y'nazqha: Oh my, they taste sweet as the summer sun! And that smell─absolutely heavenly!
Y'nazqha: I think I've seen those in a picture book somewhere...
>> Destroying the damaged railing with the wisp AoE
Y'nazqha: Are you alright, [Forename]!? The railing broke!
Y'nazqha: Are you hurt? To think we would find a path here of all places...
Popup: Yet the treasure seekers believed that even greater riches awaited in the palace's depths.
Y'nazqha: I wonder if such a palace actually existed long ago.
>> Not destroying the damaged stone fence, going through the main entrance
Y'nazqha: It's beautiful! I wonder what lies behind the other entrances.
Popup: Gems were piled about the palace chambers, filling the space with glittering light
Y'nazqha: All piled up without a care...yet they all seem so immensely valuable.
---
---
Y'nazqha: <gasp>
Popup: In the bowels of the ancient palace, they encountered a foe unlike any other.
Y'nazqha: It would take a lifetime to count all this!
Y'nazqha: Hm? I thought I saw flames...
Pari of Plenty: <sigh> What a chore. Must you soil the floor of my paradise?
Pari of Plenty: Sigh...
Y'nazqha: Why, she hasn't even bothered to get up! Does she consider us beneath her, or is she just lazy?
Pari of Plenty: Time to wake up, you dusty things.
Pari of Plenty: Put those tattered threads to use!
Y'nazqha: It seems the carpets do her bidding... Heavens forfend she lift a finger herself!
Pari of Plenty: Ah, I see we're going this way now.
Pari of Plenty: This is taking too long...
> Route 1 (destroy the fence, hit the Willful Wind)
Popup: A spirit draws near, eager to work mischief...
Capricious Chambermaid: You got in the way of our fun, and now it's time to pay the price!
Pari of Plenty: Another nuisance... Well, go on. Kill each other.
Popup: A massive bird seems to be fighting on your behalf!
Y'nazqha: Is that the bird from before!?
Capricious Chambermaid: Ouch!
Capricious Chambermaid: That hurts!
Capricious Chambermaid: How dare you!
Capricious Chambermaid: You will rue this day!
Capricious Chambermaid: Play with us again sometime!
Y'nazqha: It helped us! Perhaps as a show of thanks for before?
> Route 2 (destroy the fence, do not hit the Willful Wind)
Popup: A spirit draws near, eager to work mischief...
Capricious Chambermaid: Get away, you blubbering bird! Stop nipping at my heels!
Pari of Plenty: Ugh. Their voices grate on the ears.
Capricious Chambermaid: Eeek!
Capricious Chambermaid: Greedy bird! I only stole a few snacks!
Capricious Chambermaid: Big dumb bird! And slow, oh so slow!
Legendary Bird: Grrr... Grraaah!
Capricious Chambermaid: Hahaha, too slow! That food was delicious, by the way! Until next time!
Legendary Bird: Gyah! Gyaaah!
> Route 3 (main path, destroy the stone fence with the wisp AoE)
Popup: Drawn by the scent of chaos, a spirit wanders into the bedchamber...
Pari of Plenty: A spirit come to join the fray? Good, good. The lighter my burden, the better.
Pari of Plenty: Even they tire of your company...
> Route 4 (main path, use main entrance)
Pari of Plenty: Now make yourselves useful, you old rags. You do know what I mean, yes?
---
Pari of Plenty: Oh? You're still here?
Pari of Plenty: I've had quite enough of you! I shall like you better set aflame!
Pari of Plenty: Your prancing and capering sickens me! Begone from my sight!
Pari of Plenty: I tire of this. Go on, you frayed mats─smother the life out of them.
Pari of Plenty: Do try and make the ride less bumpy this time.
Pari of Plenty: What persistent pests... Come now, you worthless rugs, shake off that dirt and do something!

Y'nazqha: That was quite the fight! Despite appearances, her strength was terrifying to behold.
Y'nazqha: It's one of the carpets...she just left it here. Now that I see it up close, 'tis plain it was woven by a master.
Y'nazqha: I, for one, could not put a price on a treasure such as this! Let us bring it to the maiden!
Y'nazqha: I could not have asked for a more dependable bodyguard!
Y'nazqha: Have you ever seen such a gate!?
Pursued Peasant: You saved my life, truly. Those thieves but recently began to infest the valley to the north.
Y'nazqha: Thieves, eh? The classic antagonists!
Y'nazqha: Shall we travel to the northern valley, [Forename]? As insufferable as thieves are, they often hoard treasure!
Y'nazqha: [Forename], listen. Did you hear a sound just now?
Y'nazqha: A new path! It seems the rocks moved... Hmm. Were they imbued with some unseen power?
x@Adept's Journal: How many seasons have come and gone since I set foot in this land, where the rules of gravity are mere suggestions? How many times have I swung my sword—each flourish bringing me one step closer to mastering the Unyielding Blade, honing the aether within my weapon to a fine edge?<br>Yet even as my body is consumed by training, my mind turns only to my dear friend, bound still to the sea. To destroy the vile thing which threatens her and hers, my bladework must be without equal.<br>When I have reached the heights I must, I shall come for you. Y'nazqha: I haven't seen anything quite like this... I believe we have no choice but to get a closer look!
Y'nazqha: [Forename], [Forename]! Am I...floating!?
Y'nazqha: I must wonder as to the nature of the rocks... Perhaps their magnetic fields have been disrupted?
Y'nazqha: Unfortunately, I hardly think floating rocks could be considered treasure...
Y'nazqha: I don't know where to step, nor where to hide!
Y'nazqha: Eyaaah! Apologies, but combat is not my specialty!
>> If the Seeing Stones are attacked near each of the three large rocks
Popup: The magnetism of the atmosphere shifts...
---
Y'nazqha: Even without solid ground under your feet, you made quick work of them. Of course, I never doubted you!
Y'nazqha: Ah hah, do you feel that? Gravity! I can step surely now.
---
Y'nazqha: Some sort of rock beast, I presume?
Y'nazqha: Its surface was hard as rock, but it moved nimbly enough...
Popup: In the valley's most remote reaches they faced their deadliest challenge yet.
Y'nazqha: This is the last place I expected to run into a person...
Lone Swordmaster: Take up your weapon. I pray you can provide some measure of entertainment before you die.
Lone Swordmaster: From where shall death take you? I shall grant you the mercy of foresight.
Lone Swordmaster: Whence shall my blade strike? Look well!
Y'nazqha: Blades of aether! Don't let them pierce you!
Lone Swordmaster: Do you truly believe you can run from me?
Y'nazqha: This fighting style...sword strikes imbued with aether. Could this be one of the swordmasters that were snuffed out by the Empire!?
Lone Swordmaster: Death comes from all directions!
Y'nazqha: The blades of aether changed trajectory!? I see now why the Unyielding Blade was so feared...
> Route 9 (mushroom path, rocks activated by golem)
Lone Swordmaster: Only a true master can call the earth itself her ally!
Y'nazqha: The magnetic fields are wildly unstable... Perhaps our foe uses them against us.
> Route 10 (mushroom path, rocks not activated by golem)
Lone Swordmaster: Do not dare perish before witnessing my full strength!
Y'nazqha: Falling stones! Watch your head!
> Route 11 (floating rock path, Seeing Stones fought near large rocks)
Lone Swordmaster: Let us see how attuned you are to the flow of battle!
Y'nazqha: The magnetic fields are wildly unstable... Perhaps our foe uses them against us.
> Route 12 (floating rock path, Seeing Stones fought away from large rocks)
Lone Swordmaster: Hah hah, good, good! Perhaps you shall not disappoint after all!
Y'nazqha: Falling stones! Watch your head!
---
Lone Swordmaster: Run if you dare! Doom shall find you all the same!
Lone Swordmaster: Come now, you can do better than that!
Lone Swordmaster: Not so fast!
Y'nazqha: That was like seeing two artists at work! My jaw was clenched the whole time...but in the end, you proved the mightier!
Y'nazqha: My heart is still pounding! Wait, is this...?
Y'nazqha: Why, it's the swordmaster's blade. The edge is flawless, and the decorations are exquisite!
Y'nazqha: I must say, I certainly couldn't measure the value of this. Could you? No? I believe that means we should deliver it to the maiden!
Y'nazqha: Since we both have all of our limbs, I would say that was a job well done. Thank you, [Forename]!
After leaving the instance, the player will receive a cutscene with the Fair Maiden each time they bring back a new treasure.
Strategy
Living Liquid
Players should assign specific positions around the arena for each player to avoid a mechanic that repeats throughout the fight. Players can use the segments on the floor to assign positions.

Phase 1
The main tank should pull the boss to the center of the room. This will make it easier to deal with mechanics.

*Fluid Swing: A wide frontal cleave. Players should avoid getting hit by this attack, as it deals massive damage and is hard to heal through in conjunction with other mechanics. Players should avoid standing in front of the boss for this altogether.

*Protean Wave: This attack hits twice. First, three telegraphs come out on the ground, then 6 random players will be marked. Players should move to their assigned positions to avoid overlapping with other players.

*Splash: High raid-wide AoE damage. Mitigate and heal through.

*Sluice: Random players will be marked, so spread out to assigned positions. When the attack fires, marked players are hit by splash damage, as well as AoEs are marked on the floor. Players will have to avoid these AoEs as well as marked players to avoid excessive damage. The boss will then transform into its hand form.

Phase 2
*Fluid Strike: A frontal tankbuster that needs to be split to survive.

*Wash Away: All players will be pushed back a set distance. Players should stack in the center of the room to avoid being knocked off the edge.

*Digititis: A random tank, healer and DPS will be targeted. After the cast goes off, debuffs will be applied to these targeted players:
**Red: Damage Down will be applied to the DPS.
**Green: Healing Down will be applied to the healer.
**Blue: Vulnerability Up will be applied to the tank.
Players must swap debuffs to avoid detrimental effects from applying to each role. Debuffs must be swapped EXTREMELY quickly (the first debuffs have a timer of around 5 seconds - once this is over they change to unpassable ones), and can only be swapped once, so players must communicate with each other. Players should swap debuffs in the following way:
**Blue debuffs should be given to DPS.
**Red debuffs should be given to the healer.
**Green debuffs should be given to the tank.
This will help minimize the detriment to each player according to the strengths and weaknesses of their role.

*Fluid Strike x2: Players with the Vulnerability Up debuff should avoid stacking for this attack. The boss will follow this up with another Wash Away, so players will need to stack again. The boss will then split into two hands. Each tank should grab one hand.

*Fluid Swing: Players should still move out of this. Each hit will now also apply a debuff to tanks. Be sure to face this away from the raid.

*Hand of Prayer/Hand of Parting: One of the hands will begin to glow and will either turn into an open hand or a fist. The hands need to be separated or brought together accordingly (If the hand is open, bring them together. If it is a fist, separate them). The hands will then slam into the ground and deal raid-wide damage. If the hands have been moved properly, they will do a small amount of damage. If moved incorrectly however, they will deal massive damage and debuff the party.

The boss will perform another Digititis, so players will have to swap debuffs again.

*Equilibrium Concentration: One of the hands will take HP from another. Players should identify which hand has more HP and focus their attacks on it. Players will have 25 seconds to balance the hands' HP.

*Hand of Pain: If the hands are brought within 4% HP of each other, this attack will deal normal damage. If players fail to balance the hand's HP, they will wipe. This is a DPS check. The boss will follow up with another Hand of Prayer/Parting and another Fluid Swing. The hands will then move to the center.

Phase 3
Ads will begin to spawn in the center of the arena and start moving towards the edge. If an ad gets to the edge, they will debuff the party with Paralyze and deal massive damage.
The ads spawn in 6 waves:
*2 Piston Lubricant
*3 Gear Lubricant
*1 Piston, 2 Gears
*4 Gears
*3 Gears
*4 Pistons
The Piston Lubricant will cast Mucilage, which will cause them to sprint to the edge of the arena. This attack needs to be interrupted and the ads need to be focused down.
The Gear Lubricant move slowly and have lower HP but should still be taken out quickly.
On top of this, in waves 2 and 4, the boss will cast Drainage, targeting 2 random players with tethers that will eventually explode. Tanks should take these tethers and move away from the party to avoid overlapping damage with other players. On waves 3 and 5, the boss will cast Ferrofluid, marking two sets of players with Positive and Negative markers and tethering them together. if tethered players have the same markers, they need to stand close together. If they have opposite markers, they need to move far apart. When the debuffs resolve, players will either be pushed away or pulled together. If players handle this mechanic incorrectly, they will be heavily debuffed and not survive the next attack. The boss will then transform back into his humanoid form.

Phase 4
This final phase is a loop of several mechanics, or a pairing of mechanics requiring players to move quickly and carefully in order to resolve them properly.

*Cascade: High raid-wide damage. This attack also spawns puddles randomly around the arena. Though the placement of these puddles is random, players can figure out their effects based on their placement:
**The 'lone' puddle will cast Protean Wave.
**The two puddles that are close together will use Embolus and Throttle (left puddle) and Drainage (right puddle).

*Ferrofluid: Players should move to their assigned positions for this, as this attack will target all players, so being able to identify who players are tethered to and moving accordingly is key.

*Fluid Swing: Adds debuffs to the main tank. Tanks need to swap around 4 stacks, which will line up with the next cast of Cascade.

*Splash: Mitigate and heal through.

*Sluice/Protean Wave: Players will need to spread out for Sluice, dodge the first hit of Protean Wave, then separate for the second attack.

*Sluice/Digititis: This time, two Red markers will come out, so both healers will need to take these, while a free DPS needs to take the Blue debuff.

*Cascade: Mitigate and heal through again. Three new puddles will spawn.

*Liquid Gaol: A healer will be targeted. The marked healer needs to move away from the rest of the party, as after the cast resolves, the healer and all players around them will be stunned. a Liquid Limb will spawn and pick up the stunned healer and begin to move them towards the edge. The limb must be defeated before this happens. If successful, the healer will be released.

*Splash: Mitigate and heal through.

*Digititis: This attack will be the exact same as last time.

*Splash x6: This will cause massive damage, so healers should be ready for this.

One of the puddles will cast a single line Protean Wave, so avoid accordingly, followed by another Cascade.

*Throttle: A random player will be debuffed with Throttle, when it resolves the player will be killed. This needs to be dispelled immediately. The boss will cast another party-wide Ferrofluid, so stack or spread accordingly, followed by another Throttle which needs to be dispelled.

*Embolus: Summons a ball that moves towards the boss. If it touches the boss or another player, it is most likely a wipe. The main tank should move the boss as soon as they see the ball appear, and all players should stay clear of its path.

*Drainage/Protean Wave: Tanks will take the tethers again, and players will dodge the hits of Protean Wave. This will be followed by another Sluice.
A puddle will cast Embolus again, this time players should move the boss back to the center. The boss will follow up with another Fluid Swing, and the mechanics will repeat from the beginning of phase 4.

Players will have to defeat the boss in this time, or the boss will enrage and wipe the party.
Necrophagous whelk that flocks to carcasses en masse, whittling them down to next to nothing. Morbid feeding habits aside, it does have a pretty shell, which hunters carry around for luck.
Bahamut Prime
This fight is all about reacting to mechanics that repeat in each phase and mitigating heavy-hitting attacks. This fight has a hard 14 minute enrage so players need to handle the fight as quickly as possible. The boss doesn't have very complex attacks so learning them well will be the key to success.

Before the fight begins players need to set a marker somewhere in the arena to denote where players with a specific marker will stack to split damage.

Once the boss is engaged, the edge around the arena becomes an instant-kill upon

Phase 1: 100%-76%
To begin the fight players should pull the boss to the south wall of the arena.
*Flare Breath: A large frontal cleave on the primary target. Be sure to turn the boss away from the party for this. This attack is usually paired with other attacks.

*Megaflare: 3-4 players are marked with ground AoEs. 3-4 other players will be hit with a splash damage AoE, and 2-4 players are marked for a beam that must be split by other marked players to mitigate the damage. Players with a marker should stack at the predetermined location. The boss will follow this with a Flare Breath.

*Flatten: A heavy damage tankbuster. Requires mitigation to survive.

*Earth Shaker: Two players are tethered to the boss and marked with brown tethers. After a short delay, the tethered players will have a line fired at them that hits anything between them. The players will also drop three puddles each. To handle this, players who are tethered should move to the left and right of the boss and slowly move around the arena to avoid cleaving the party and drop the puddles around the edge. These puddles will persist for a while, so players should avoid standing in them.

This phase will repeat until the boss reaches 76% HP. players should push this phase as hard as possible to give more time later to handle other phases. It is also recommended that players use a DPS Limit Break level 1 to push the phase and also have a tank Limit Break level 3 for a later phase.

At 76% the boss will cast Gigaflare, an unavoidable room-wide attack. Mitigate and heal through the damage.

Phase 2: 76%-52%
* Shadow of Meracydia: After the Gigaflare cast fades a Shadow of Meracydia spawns in the north of the arena. If it gets too close to the boss, they will link and begin buffing each other. If the boss was pulled to the south, the off tank can grab the add and keep it in the north to avoid this. The other Adds will also spawn away from the boss, minimizing the chances of them tethering together.

:Players should focus on the add, as if it's not killed quickly, it will fire a line of puddles at a player, severely restricting how freely players can move.

* Flare Star: At the same time the Shadow of Meracydia spawns, the boss will summon orbs to tether to players that move slowly at first, then will speed towards the player they are tethered to. If a player is hit by an orb, they will take damage and receive a stack of the debuff Suffocated Will. This debuff will deal more damage when applied based on how many stacks a player already has. Non-tank players should not receive more than 2 stacks, as the damage will be lethal after that. Communication is required between players to note who has orbs tethered to them and who needs someone to take their tether.

:The boss will follow up with a Flatten, one cast of Flare Breath and Megaflare mechanics. This time however, the Megaflare will spawn a pillar from one of its AoEs, which will explode and wipe the raid if not dealt with. A single player must stand in the AoE and soak the damage instead, preventing the wipe.

* Rage of Bahamut: Deals damage based on how many stacks of Suffocated Will a player has. Healers should be ready for raid-wide healing after this.
From here the phase repeats, an add will spawn in the southeast and west and the mechanics will keep repeating until the boss reaches 52% HP. At this time the boss will cast another Gigaflare and leave the arena.

Phase 3: Adds
* Divebomb: Players should move to the center of the room immediately after the boss leaves the arena. It will appear at the edge of the arena and mark a random player with a red circle above their head. This indicates the boss will charge from where it is to the other side of the arena, passing through where the marked player was standing. A Storm of Meracydia will spawn at the edge as well and mark a player with a green marker, indicating the same thing. Once these markers go out, players know the boss and the add will charge through the center of the arena in a straight line, creating safe zones. Once the green marker comes up players can move to those safe zones to avoid the attack. Be aware that the paths of the attacks are rather wide, so move sufficiently into safe zones. The boss will follow this up with a Megaflare, thus it is important to not stack in the chaos of dodging the divebomb. It's wise to have half the players dodge the divebomb to the right and the other half to the left (of looking at Bahamut from the middle) to give space for each player to spread.

*Adds will spawn after this, a Pain of Meracydia and a Blood of Meracydia. The off tank should pull the Pain to the west of the room, while the main tank grabs the Blood and the party quickly burns it down. The Blood of Meracydia will switch between a buff that mitigates physical damage and magic damage. Players should pay attention to which buff the boss has up and try to line bursts up with these buffs. The Pain of Meracydia has a strong cleave attack that needs to be pointed away from the party and uses Tail Swipe, attacking behind it. Avoid this by attacking from its side as much as possible and being careful with positionals.

*Gusts of Meracydia will also spawn. The tank that grabbed the Blood should grab these, as if they get too close to the Pain, they will be absorbed, and it will receive HP back and a damage up Damage Up buff.

:After the Pain and Blood are finished off, 2 Sins of Meracydia will spawn. These Adds hit hard and should be defeated quickly. Each tank should grab them and pull them into the center of the arena to be burned down by AoE attacks. At roughly 20 seconds after spawning, they will cast Evil Eye, an attack that deals damage equal to their remaining HP. Shortly after this another round of Divebombs from the boss and the Storm of Meracydia. These should be handled the same way as the previous attack.

*Storm of Meracydia will spawn in the center of the room and should be pulled to the south of the room. The tank that does this will also grab the Gusts that spawn later. The other tank will pick up the rest of the Adds as they spawn and pull them over to where the Storm is to burn everything down efficiently. When the Pain respawns, keep it pulled away from the group until the Gusts are defeated. After the Storm is defeated, it will drop a Neurolink 2.0Puddle, which when stepped in greatly reduces damage dealt.

*Teraflare: After enough time has past, Bahamut will appear on the northern side of the arena and slowly begin casting it's ultimate attack. To withstand it, players must be prepared to perform two actions. First, the Pain must be defeated before the cast finishes, as the Neurolink puddle debuffs with Flare Dampening, greatly mitigating the damage from this attack. Secondly, the tank should use a Limit Break 3 to further mitigate damage; a countdown will appear when 10 seconds remain, and the Limit Break should generally be used at 4 seconds remaining. Healers can also use shields.

After the party survives Teraflare, Bahamut will return to the arena and begin the final phase.

Phase 4: 52%-0%
The boss will use the attacks Flare Breath, Megaflare, Earthshaker, and Gigaflare in this phase, each with a slight change to their mechanics; see below for details. The boss also adds a new ability to its repertoire.
*Akh Morn: A multi-hit tank buster. This attack also tethers to a player, and if they are in range of the blast, will split the damage of the attack. The off tank should pick this tether up and stand near the main tank for this attack. The first hit of Akh Morn will deal heavy damage, with each hit after dealing about half as much as the first. Every time the boss uses this attack, it will add an additional Akh Morn hit.

*Megaflare: The attack mechanics will happen as normal, however this time up to 2 pillars will spawn, each needing a player to stand in them and soak the damage. Players will also be tethered randomly and hit by Tempest Wing, a twister that deals moderate damage. If anyone else is hit by this, they are knocked back, take damage and receive a heavy damage over time debuff. This attack can knock players into the edge of the arena, spelling instant death for anyone who touches it. The off and main tank should pick up these tethers and subsequently stand far enough to not hit each other with the twisters. This is so that the originally targeted players can stack for Megaflare if needed.

*Earthshaker: This attack behaves as normal, however the boss will also tether the two players targeted with Earthshaker with Tempest Wing, causing twisters to spawn on them. Targeted players should not move into other players while the twister is active and healers should be ready to heal them. The boss also follows up with a Flare Breath immediately after. These mechanics will repeat from here.

:After every two rounds of the above rotation, the boss will use Gigaflare, and immediately follow up with Akh Morn so be ready to move, mitigate and heal through this.

This repeats until the boss is either defeated or enrages. At its enrage, it casts a 15-second Gigaflare that will wipe the party.

Solo strategy
As of patch 6.0, the duty can be easily cleared solo by any well-geared level 90 character.

The boss fight consists of attacking the boss and the adds it spawns until they die. The only danger lies in the three phases in which the boss and its add charge through the arena; they must be carefully evaded or they will push the player out of the arena and to their death.

The boss will use the following attacks: Flare Breath MegaFlare, Earthshaker and Gigaflare in this phase, each with a slight change to their mechanics; see below for details.

*Earthshaker: This attack behaves as normal however the boss will also tether the 2 players targeted with Earthshaker with Tempest Wing, causing twisters to spawn on them. Targeted players should not move into other players while the twister is active and healers should be ready to heal them. The boss also follows up with a Flare Breath immediately after. These mechanics will repeat from here.

:After every two rounds of the above rotation, the boss will use Gigaflare, and immediately follow up with Akh Morn so be ready move, mitigate and heal through this.

This repeats until the boss is either defeated or enrages. At its’ enrage, it casts a 15-second Gigaflare that will wipe the party.
